“Speaking of which…what did you do?” asked Erving, as he waited for an explanation from me.

“I uh, accidentally gave him a peanut-infested sandwich?” I squeaked. “I mean, not that I knew he had an allergy to it. I just grabbed something random from the counter and—”

Erving burst out laughing and then thumped me on the back a few times.

I staggered forward a few steps and glared at him. “What the hell?”

“That is hilarious!” Erving threw his head back and started to laugh even more.

“My god, you sound like a laughing hyena,” said Sterling, rolling his eyes.

“Canth youth get him outh of the damn room?” Carson said, in a loud tone. “I’m getting a goddamn headthache.”

“And a goddamn lisp,” Erving choked out, through fits of laughter.

Sterling ushered him out of the room, closing the door behind him. Now it was just me and Carson again.

“Well at least you’re feeling better now,” I said, as I made a move for the door. “If you don’t mind, I’d like to go home now and—”

“Come here,” he suddenly said, as he gestured to the seat beside the bed.

 “Why?” I asked, warily.

“Just come here forth a sec.”

“You can’t make me.” I stuck my tongue out at him.

“Youth almost killed me, isn’t this the leasth you could do?” Damn him; pulling the guilty card on me.

I glared at him but slowly made my way to the seat. I plopped down onto it and then looked at him. “What?”

“Youth hath to make this up to me,” he said.

“Make up what?” I asked, puzzled. “Isn’t my taking you to the hospital enough? I mean, I wasn’t going to take you to the hospital, but I did anyways, so count that as a repayment for almost ‘killing’ you.”

Carson shook his head at me and then smirked. “I hath a better idea.”

“Uh, no you don’t.” I shook my head and then got out of my seat. “I’m pretty sure it’s a bad one.”

“But I haven’t even said it yeth…”

“All the reason why your idea is a bad idea.” And with that, I walked out of the hospital room.

I found Erving and Sterling sitting on the seats beside the door.

“What are you guys doing out here and not in there?” I asked, as I gestured towards Carson’s room.

“We wanted to give you guys some alone time,” said Erving, smirking.

I blushed. “Nothing went on in there, geez.” I plopped myself down next to Sterling, where there was an empty seat.

“Sure…” Erving said, not believing me one bit. “Keep telling yourself that, hon.”

I glared at him. “What the hell are up with you guys—and my friends—for thinking that there’s something going on between Carson and me?”

“Um, maybe because something is?” said Erving.

“Oh my god! Sterling: do you think what Erving says is true?”

Sterling shrugged. “I don’t know.”

“Of course you wouldn’t know—everyone here practically knows you’re in love with her.”
