I slowly opened my eyes and tried to adjust the light that was shining into them. As I sat up straight I felt that my whole body was sore. I blinked a few times and looked around. I was in the middle of an ally and I could see lots of people passing by at the end of it. Standing up, I brushed the sand and stuff off my clothes and walked towards the people. I looked around again and saw that I ended up on a small market. The sun was burning intensely and then I remembered. This isn't home. And she is gone.

It has been days since I was roaming around these streets, traveling around the world with my best friend, backpacking. We had saved enough money through the years so we weren't worried. What we didn't expect was that a bunch of guys would burst into our room and try to kidnap us. While two of them tried to tie her up, I managed to kick the other one to a pulp and escape. She told me to run and I promised her to find her, even if it was the last thing that I'd do.

So that's what I am doing, trying to find any sign of her. What didn't help is that the bastards took all of our belongings, including our passports, most of our money and other things. So I was left with nothing. Hell I didn't even remember where I was. The worst part is that I don't remember my own last name either, and same goes for my age. I remember some little things like where we originally live, that I was born in England etcetera, but forgetting the rest was unpleasant. Not like it matters anyways, because all I have to focus on is that I remember my first name and that I have to find my best friend.

I decided to use the only thing that I had on me to keep me company, my old iPod. I put my earbuds in and hit shuffle as I started walking through the crowd, looking for anything suspicious or familiar as a song by what I recognized as my favorite band started playing. I always talk about them to Liz, but I think she's used to it by now. I stumbled around as I saw a familiar man walk past me, holding some woman's hand. I turned around and opened my mouth to say something, but before I could do so they had already vanished.

I shrugged it off and started walking again, enjoying the songs that I heard piece by piece. Maybe I'll even get a tan in this weather. I chuckled and looked at a necklace at one of the stands, sad thing that I don't have a lot of money on me. I looked up and saw three guys standing on the other end of the market, and they were coming my way. Without hesitation I turned around and started running away. I pushed past dozens of people, shouting apologies at them as I ran around the corner, sprinting down the quiet streets that were made out of big cobblestones. I have the feeling that I'm somewhere in Arabia or anything like that. I stopped at a small cafe and went inside, hoping to escape the three men. I walked towards the bar and ordered two beers and a tequila, I'm a bit stressed okay. Then I saw him again, the guy from outside.

I payed for my drinks and walked towards him, still contemplating whether to talk to him or not, but before I knew it I was already standing in front of his table. He noticed me and quickly covered the papers that were spread out in front of him. "Hey how can I help you?" He smiled at me. "Eh, I'm sorry, I was just wondering if I've met you before, you look familiar" I said awkwardly while I scratched the back of my head. "No miss we've never met, I'm sorry" he said. He had a deep voice and a British accent. Then something clicked. I turned up the volume on my iPod and listened closely. "But it's possible that I seem familiar, I've been on the news a few times" He smiled at me. The curly blonde hair, those bright blue eyes, it's almost like I've known this man for years yet I can't even remember his name.

"Well it doesn't matter anyways, my name is Chris" he beamed while putting out his hand for me to shake. "I'm Jessica by the way" I said . "Nice to meet you Jessica" he said with a really big smile. "Thank you" I thought out loud. "Excuse me, what?" He chuckled. "Nothing, sorry. Just a habit I guess" I said while shaking my head. "It's okay, sit down if you want, you seem friendly to me" he chuckled. "Thanks" I said as I sat down in front of him. I placed one of the beers in front of him and took a swig from the other one. "Go ahead, that's for thinking I'm friendly, I don't know how else to make it up to you" I chuckled.

"Well that doesn't sound negative at all" he said sarcastically while he took a sip. "But thank you anyways" he said with a small smirk. "You're welcome, but what is up with this?" I asked, gesturing towards the mess that he had covered with his jacket. "Just some stuff that Harvey gave me to look through" he said blankly. "You're lying" I said. "Phil would never give you this much to read and sign, that's his job anyways" I explained. "Why would I lie about that?" He asked. "Because you don't know me, and you're scared that I might tell anyone" I stated. "Don't worry, I don't have anyone to share it with anyways" I blurted out and slapped a hand over my mouth in regret. Good job me. I can't just tell everyone about this, I don't even know him. "What do you mean?" He asked. "If you tell me what you're working on I'll tell you" I said and bit my lip. I saw that he was thinking about my offer, and that he probably thinks that I'm crazy. "Alright, but you go first" he said as he leaned forward onto the table. I was kinda shocked by it since it looked pretty serious, but started telling him the story anyway, even explaining that I lost a part of my memory and thanks to him I got something back.

"So now they have her and I don't know what to do, those guys are right on my heels" I said as I finished telling him what happened and took another swig. "Well that sounds like a pretty heavy story if you'd ask me" he said with a hint of concern in his voice. "Yeah I guess, but now it's your turn to spill the beans sir" I said as I wiggled my eyebrows. "Alright then" he said as he put his jacket away so the papers were in sight again. "I am working on a case" he started as he searched for a particular file. "Case?" I asked. "Yes a case. And after your story I think it might finally go somewhere, I was stuck on a dead end you see" he continued. He collected three files and put them face down on the table. "I don't understand, what is happening?" I asked. What does he mean with case?

"Well this may be something that you'll have to get used to at first, but I work for a secret agency. I am a special agent that only works undercover. People wouldn't find a musician as intriguing as someone who is trained to deal with criminals" he shrugged. "Wait what? Are you even allowed to tell me this?" I asked. "No, but I think you can help me. We got a tip from someone who lives a few streets away from here. Three shady looking guys were forcefully pushing a girl into a van and screams were heard. It sounded like someone getting kidnapped to me, so I tried to figure out who the guys were. And turned out they have a history of criminal activity" he said as he pushed the thee files towards me, the information that was written on it facing up. I looked at them with wide eyes, it showed the profiles of the guys that attacked us.

"It's them. They took her and all our belongings" I said as I shoved them back. "If we work together, we might be able to find where they hiding and fix everything. You get your best friend and belongings back, and I get to arrest those bastards that have been hiding from me for way too long" he said as he held up his beer. "Deal?" He asked.

"Deal" I said as I clinked my shot glass with his bottle and downed my drink.
