Jake was able to drive ahead. Anna stayed on the girl's tail, which was obviously getting irritated by the angry flashing of her lights. The girl moved over to the right lane and Anna drove by quickly acting as if she hadn't noticed them at all. They flipped her off as she passed, Anna just smiled as she made sure to get in front of the girls. The freeway wasn't busy, so they played a game of swerving back and forth. Anna wouldn't let them drive by. Slowly Anna began to lean on her breaks. At forty-five miles per hour, the girl behind her wheel started blasting her horn. Anna noticed she had lost sight of Jake and decided to solve this situation quickly. She slammed on her breaks which made the girls behind her slam on theirs hard enough to stop and make another car swerve out of the way.
Anna sped up and it took ten minutes to catch back up to Jake. The thought that he would be with anyone else made her blood boil. He was a sure thing. He was hers. Anna could feel it. She just knew it.
It was towards Anna's good luck that she did catch up quickly because Jake surprised her by pulling off into a mini mall of unique stores. Anna had never seen this place before, as she didn't often travel this way because she liked taking the coastal roads which took longer but were much prettier and relaxing to drive. The trips to California meant when she got into the cities she would be eaten up by their fast, crazy traffic. Anna and Harmony always thought if you wanted to be an expert racecar driver, California was the place to learn.
Anna parked and watched Jake get out of his truck. She loved how he moved, especially since he had no idea she was watching. She felt so naughty and wicked. Jake went into a candy store whose windows were ridiculously inviting. He brought out a clear bag full of colorful plastic wrapping and ribbons tied to match as well as a white bag with a stapled piece of paper to the bag. The next shop he went into was two doors down and looked like a beauty supply shop. Anna laughed and took a picture with her phone before quickly stuffing it back into her purse.
Then Anna got out of her car and wrapped a scarf around her neck. As Jake walked into the beauty supply shop, Anna ran towards the sweet shop he had just come out of. The smell of sweet breads, thick chocolates, and sugary substances hit her nostrils right when she opened the door. It was a dentist's nightmare waiting to happen. She walked up to the front counter where a tall thin girl with bright white teeth shone from her wide smile.
"Hi, my friend Jake just came in here and ordered some treats." Anna asked confidently.
"Yes, they were preordered." The girl answered.
"Most likely from his mom, she is so sweet." Anna said to the girl smiling big.
"Yes, she is. She keeps us busy." The girl said not giving more information than that.
Anna remembered that his mother planned weddings for a living.
"Oh, well that's good. You know, I love her tastes as her weddings are gorgeous! Is there any way I could order the exact same things she did? Jake's mom had praised this shop and I trust her judgment. However, we are in a hurry as this was a last-minute decision." Anna asked with a sweet smile.
"Sure, I still have the slip here. It would only take a moment." The receptionist replied.
"Would you like the full order or the To-Go Bag?"
"Would it still be quick if I said the full order?"
"Yes." She smiled politely.
"That's perfect then, thank you." Anna was curious what the full order was.
Anna looked at all the wonderful sweets trying to memorize them, so she could tell Chef Caesar. He made the best treats and was always interested in something new to master and make taste better. She loved cooking with Caesar. He was a food genius.
