Work Days

After a few days working at the SSR no one payed attention to me, I was just another worker. News had spread of mine and Peggy's achievement in getting what the agency needed and I may have gained a bit more respect. I wasn't just the woman who sorted out files, I could go on missions....small missions but still missions.

As I was delivering files to the science lab, I heard shouting. Turning the corner, someone knocked me onto my back, causing the papers in the files to fly everywhere. I groaned as I sat up, rubbing my head. Looking behind me I saw two agents take down a man, no doubt a criminal taken in for questioning.

"Agent Hills, are you ok?" I heard Chief Thompson say. I raised my head to see that he was standing over me. He helped me pick up the papers and back on my feet.

"Yes, thank you chief." I sighed as I looked down at the crumpled papers.

"I'm sorry that you have to go through those again."

"Me too."

"Listen, I know that you said you don't do field work, but after what you did with Carter, I need you on another mission."

"I can do that. When do you need me?"

"This evening. We're going down to The Jules Hotel, so dress nice. I'll have someone deliver the information to you."

I was allowed to go home to collect the clothing I would need for tonight. The Jules Hotel was quite glamorous meaning I would need a long gown (which I had bought too many of). Back at the SSR, I saw that all of the files that still needed to be approved had disappeared. At first I thought it was some sort of joke and that someone had hidden them until I spotted them on Agent Philip's desk. Did the Chief want to get me in anymore trouble with these guys?

"Going out dancing tonight?" Peggy asked turning around to face me from her desk.

"I've got another mission which requires this disguise." I explained.

"I'm sure you'll look lovely."

"Do you know where I could change? I saw the women's bathroom downstairs but that's not really a place to get ready."

"Just go into the men's locker room, I do it all the time."

I gave her a strange look.

"I didn't mean it like that, I meant for when I need to change for a mission. It'll be fine."

Knowing that I wouldn't be ready in time if I went downstairs, I decided to take Peggy's advice. Knocking on the men's locker room door, I hoped that no one was in there. Unfortunately my boss was which was even worse. Opening the door a small bit, I placed a hand over my eyes before sticking my head in.

"I'm sorry chief, but we'll stay on schedule if I change in here." I quickly explained.

"It's ok, Agent Hills, I'm still dressed." he sighed.

Parting my fingers, I saw that his tuxedo was still hung up and he was in fact in his normal suit. I walked to the other side of the room where the lockers could seperate us.

As we got changed, he started talking."I appreciate you working overtime. I would normally have some of the boys come with me but I needed a woman for this one."

"Why not Agent Carter? She's more trained in this sort of thing." I asked.

"She's a good agent but she wouldn't listen to me. She would take matters into her own hands like she did at Ecorpse...and on numerous missions."

"You make a valid point." I tried reaching for my zip but I couldn't, causing me to stumble into the lockers and made a loud bang.

"What are you doing Agent Hills?"
