I was standing in a long narrow dark hallway. The only thing I could make out was a small light coming from the other end of the hallway.

"Mary run. Go towards the light." A voice kept repeating. Although for some reason my legs did not want to move, I ran towards the light. I ran as far and as fast as I possibly could. Now my legs were starting to burn. As I slowed down I could hear footsteps behind me.

"Mary run faster." The voice was getting fainter and the footsteps behind me were getting louder. I was so close to the light I could almost touch it. There were no more footsteps. An arm reached out and and grabbed me. It pulled me back into the darkness. I screamed but no noise came out.

"It's too late Mary, you should have listened."
...

"MARY! MARY!! Wake up it's the first day of summer." Ana shouted shaking me awake.

"Ok, ok I'm up." I groaned. When I sat up from my bed, my little sister gave me a puzzled look.

"What?" I yawned. My eyes were still adjusting to the brightness, from the sun piercing through my window.

"Why did you keep saying things like 'go' and 'run faster' in your sleep?"

I shrugged, "I had a weird dream." I pulled the loose strings of fabric off the cover of my bed.

"About what?"

"Dunno. Can't remember." I lied not wanting to talk about my dream. Ana frowned, she was unconvinced. But, before she could ask any further questions, changing the subject I asked her what she wanted to do today.

It worked because her expression changed and now she was smiling. "I wanna go exploring outside!" She said clapping. Ever since my sister was 4 she loved to "explore" and find things, it was like her hobby. A few months ago, my mom bought her a big wooden box to put all of her findings in.

"Well first off I need to get dressed and make some breakfast." I mumbled lazily getting out of bed and walking towards the bathroom. Ana followed

"Mom already made breakfast. When are we gonna go outside?" My little sister was getting impatient...and also on my last nerve."

"Hold on I'm getting ready!" I shouted with my mouth full of toothpaste. Quickly I spit in the sink and ran back to my room to get dressed.
...

By the time I made it to the kitchen I could smell the sweet aroma of pancakes and maple syrup. Before i even took my first bite, Ana came running into the kitchen hollering like a crazy person.

"Sis come on! There's new people outside we gotta go see!"

"New people?"

"We gotta go now." Ana was really impatient now and when she got impatient, she was also impossible to deal with.

Like a lightning bolt Ana was already outside waiting for me on the porch.

"Look over there!" Ana pointed to a U-haul van next to the new house across from us.

A boy with mid-length curly brown hair, and eyes the color of the ocean appeared out of the moving truck holding a stack of small brown boxes.

My little sister squealed with excitement. "Let's go say hi."

"Ana no, we can come back later when they're done unpacking!" I called out just wanting to get back inside and finish my pancakes. But Ana wasn't listening. She was already joyfully skipping towards our new neighbor's house. I sighed and followed her.
