"Tell me everything, Erica."

This is what should I expect for breakfast. All eyes on me. Except for Dad. As usual, he is somewhere else.

I remember when I was 7 years old. My Dad always drive me to school and fetch me after. I have this wonderful memories of him. At least that is still what I believe.

When things started to change, my Mom was there to explain for my Dad's side. She told me that Dad is doing everything for us. And she was right. Our family business became stable and continuously expanding.

I love my Dad for doing his best for us to have a comfortable life, not that our life sucks before. . . it is a way too comfortable now. And we owe that to him. With that, I didn't have any hatred. I feel lucky instead.

It slip out of my mind that we were discussing about something. .

"Hey sissy. . .would you like to share what's in your mind?" Her second brother Luke was intrigued about the look on her face.

She is the princess in the family and the youngest. Flower among the thorns. She has two brothers whom most of the time very (a little bit) protective.

"Great Mom! Look at her. . .she seemed very preoccupied." said Bryan, the oldest, dropping a meaningful gaze.

"Erica. . ." Mom's face looked so worried.

"Mom, I'm fine. I just don't want to talk about it."

"Oh common' sis, Dad was so upset last night. I can even compare his voice to an angry lion, king of the jungle. He roared." exclaimed Luke impatiently.

His two brothers are the exact opposite of each other.

Luke is warm, charming and sweet but he has this temper no one will dare except me. While Bryan on the other hand is serious, organized, very calm and matured. He is very cool in handling situations. More like Dad but without the temper.

"Chris and I. . .Mom, I'm sorry. It's not really working. . .

Her Mom sigh. "Your Dad is very disappointed with this. He's scared your Uncle Leo(Chris' Dad)will pull out on this project they are planning."

"Well, I guess this isn't fair for Erica Mom. Dad is getting into my nerves sometimes." His jaw was tense.

"Let's not presume things. Dad is not sure anyway if uncle will pull out. And one more thing, Chris is old enough to handle this. For the meantime, there's nothing we should do." Bryan suggested.

"I'm cool. By the way, where's Dad?" asked Luke with his eyes roaming around.

"Business." Mom and Bryan answered in unison.

"In the weekend? I'm not wondering why he is not emotionally attached to us anymore. He can't even understand Erica."

"Luke. . .it's okey. . .I'm just wishing Dad's mood will be better next time." I said to end the conversation.

"I think, I'll go ahead. I have an appointment today." Bryan left the table.

"Both of you, any plans for today?" asked Mom.

"I have a date. So, bye for now sissy. Let's talk later. Okey?"

"I'm really fine. No need for heart to heart confession, Lukey." Dropping him my most gorgeous smile hiding the pain.

"I insist."

"Alright. See you later, bro."

He gave Mom a kiss on the cheeks before he left.

We were alone. Mom and I. There was a long pause. She's across the table. I can feel her stares. Those eyes full of questions.

"Do you want to tell me something?"

I glance at her.

"Mom, I'm really not sure about this. About breaking up with Chris. I'm so confuse right now."

"Then, what made you decide? I'm your mother, you can tell me everything."

"I'm not happy Mom."

"Oh dear. I thought you and Chris were getting along so well."

"Yes, we are Mom. I love him."

"You love him? But why. . .."

"I love him because he is my best friend. I can't let him believe in something isn't real. It will be unfair. And he doesn't deserve any of this. Most especially the pain I am causing him right now."

"Erica, what is it? What is bothering you?"

"I don't know Mom. . .For now, I don't want commitment."

"Come here." In her arms she feels safe and at peace. "Love. . .it always comes with the pain and sacrifices. Everything will be fine, dear."

I started crying longing for this in a long time. Maybe, this all I wanted to ease the pain.

"Mom, what about Dad?"

"He'll soon understand."

Those words. . .keep playing. . . torturing her from the inside. . .

". . .Maybe, all you need is time to figure out things. . .I will be waiting. . .I'm not giving up on you 'til the time you will tell me your desires."

She's sobbing her heart out. Draining all the burden hoping that after this, everything will be back to normal.
