Ava's P.o.v
I walked slowly down the familiar path hidden by long hanging tree branches and thick green undergrowth deeper into the enchanting woods and eventually found myself at the same place I always find myself at when I need to think. My spot.
I've been coming here ever since I moved into the small cottage deep in the dense woods three years ago with my family. My family have always lived surrounded by the woods far away from any form of civilisation.
I love the way that the trees whisper secrets to each other and the way the soil smells so fresh at my spot; it makes me feel safe. I first found my spot the night after I arrived at the new house.
~~~~~~~~~
I was thinking about my new life in this strange and unfamiliar place as I left the house in the cold and dark night to go for a calming walk. I needed to clear my head and think things through about the new location I would soon be calling home. I often used to go for walks for a similar purpose at my old house which is where I had spent most of my teenage years. Whenever I used to get frustrated or have an argument with my parents, I would go for a walk in an attempt to pacify my wild temper; or occasionally my sadness.
I had been walking aimlessly for what seemed like forever and a day in a relatively straight line, just staring at my shoes and the multi coloured flowers I had painted on them the year prior.
I was deeply involved in my own little world, when from the corner of my eye I saw what looked to be an oddly textured tree.
I couldn't have been more wrong.
As I looked up from my white painted converse, I saw the most extraordinary wall of vines which seemed to sprout from high in the canopy created by the ancient towering trees and fall the long way down to the floor.
My niggling curiosity got the better of me as I had subconsciously begun to walk towards the curtain of vines.
I was so emerged in my own mind that I wasn't looking where I was walking and the large tangled root of a tree took my foot by surprise and I ended up tumbling through the gigantic wall of vines.
I picked myself up off the soft ground and looked at my surroundings, it was the most breath taking place I had ever seen... I walked further into the fascinating area towards a narrow stream that trickled down the center of the grassy clearing. Although the stream was only slight, it was doing a magnificent job of reflecting the beauty of the moonlight.
As I walked closer to the stream, I could feel the bounciness of the grass below my shoes. I had an urge to feel it on my toes so I slipped my shoes and socks off and placed my feet on the ground. The grass was soft on the soles of my feet, it tickled however it wasn't an unpleasant tickle. It reminded me of the grass at our favourite family place that we used to visit all the time before we moved.
I was so mesmerised by the stream that I hadn't yet noticed that the clearing was lit with a faint glow and I looked towards the source of the light, there were lots of little lilac flowers by the stream that glowed in the darkness of the night. They were lighting up my little clearing with a serene purple glow.
I found a patch of springy green moss which I lay down on. When I put my head of dark brunette hair down on the moss, something caught my eye in the dark night sky. It was one star, that stood out unlike the rest of its friends. It was beautiful. It shone brightly, it was the brightest star in the sky.
It was mesmerising. There was only one thought going through my head, all my body wanted to do was follow the star and my head couldn't figure out why. I could feel my eyes drooping and I eventually gave in to sleep, the star being the last thing I saw.
Remembering the night fondly, I found the same patch of bouncy green moss from that night three years ago which acted like a cushion and started to think about my life at the cottage and also about my family.
I think about my brother who is back at the cottage. He coped with moving again just fine, he's always taken things in his stride. His name's Daniel but we call him Dan. He has green eyes, just like the colour of the trees and jet black hair that is always tousled up.
Me and him are really close, he's my best friend as well as my older brother and he has always been there for me through thick and thin and I can talk to him about pretty much anything besides girl related problems because, like a typical male, he just doesn't understand.
My father and Dan look very similar. The only real difference is their eyes. My dad's eyes are bright orange with brown flecks in them, they're really unusual and I've never seen anything like them on anyone else. He's called Charlie. My mum and him have always been perfect together, they're like two peas in a pod. I love hearing the story of when they first met, it was love at first sight apparently. My mum is called Aerlys which is Welsh for snowdrop and she has got beautiful blonde hair that cascades down her back in small waves. Just like my father, it's her eyes that are really unusual, they're ice blue with white flecks in them. She's a really petite looking woman but get on her wrong side and she can get really angry.
I hadn't realised what the time was but it was starting to get dark. I decided to riskily push my curfew and stay until the sky turned black so that I could see my star.
Over these three years I still haven't figured out what it is about the star but I feel like I need to follow it, it seems like it's beckoning me and every time I look at it I get a weird feeling in my stomach, it brings out my adventurous side. Almost as if it's my duty to follow it.
Once the sky got completely dark I turned my head up to the early night sky and sure enough, there was my star.
The brightest star in the sky.
Unknown P.o.v
I could hear the paws thundering against the forest floor behind me as my wolf was running away from more vicious pack hunters. They won't be able to catch up with me, I've done this one too many times however it doesn't matter how often I do this, I always feel the adrenaline pumping through my veins and the thrill of the wind through my fur. I moved as fast as my legs would carry me, making sharp turns left and right to dodge their lunges, I was being chased yet again because I was near pack territory.
And I'm a rouge.
I'm not like other rouges. I'd never dream of intentionally harming anyone, I'm not a rouge by choice. I got betrayed.
I got lead out of my pack by somebody I thought I could trust; my nanny. She took me to the woods and abandoned me there. She said to me that if I returned then I would be killed and so would my family. I was only eight then.
Ever since I've been a rouge.
Being out here I soon learned to defend myself and have become the rouge that the others fear. I'm a strong and lethal fighter. This is because I am the rightful Alpha of the Luna Nocte pack, the strongest pack in the werewolf kingdom. This means that I consist of Alpha genes which results in me being larger and more powerful than normal wolves.
I don't like living this life for the simple reason that it's lonely. The thought of going back to my pack has crossed my mind but I never follow any of my ideas through due to the fact that however much I don't mind getting harmed, I can't let my family go through the same pain, or worse; them get murdered.
It wouldn't be so lonely if I found my mate but due to the fact that I'm a rouge, I don't stand much of a chance finding my mate. When you become a rouge, you don't meet many new wolves that don't think of you as a threat and as a result of that they either run away with their tail between their legs or they attack.
There is one escape that comes when the night turns black and the sun has gone to sleep. It puts my mind at rest. The pull I feel towards it is so strong, sometimes I will wake up in a different place to the one I fell asleep in because I've followed it in my sleep. Wherever I decide to rest my head for the night I always look for a specific star. It's never hard to find, it's beautiful.
The brightest star in the sky.
