An Encounter with a Gangster

Right in the dark street I walked alone,

Heading straight to my beloved home,

In a corner I heard a scream,

And I witness a scene I once thought a dream.

I managed to shout, "Hey stop!"'

And there, the baseball bat he dropped.

His victim ran with haste,

"Next time, you shut up.", he told me with distaste.

I thought he'll beat me up for good,

But he walked pass me and  left me where I stood.

"Hey wait!" I ran until I was right beside him.

"I'm afraid of the dark.” I muttered but he didn't say anything.

We walked silently until I saw our gate,

I stopped right in front of it as the guy kept walking straight.

"Thanks." I whispered while looking at his back,

I thought he didn't hear me but he suddenly stopped.

"I'm the popular gangster, aren't you afraid?"

"I hurt people, rob them, kill them even, it's a routine I thought I cannot change,"

He turned to face me again.

"But the first time my gaze fell on you last summer, the feeling was strange."

"I started to look after you every day, I even followed you when you head home without you noticing me at all."

"I stopped fighting gangs, stopped hurting people except tonight."

"I caught that guy waiting for you to pass that street and  he's planning something evil, it was the first time I felt the fright."

"I realized something and decided to tell you this before it's too late",

"Why was I silent a while ago?

I was thinking ---

Hey Miss Krad,

Can I ask you out on a date?"
