"Alright, Skate. Take a thirty minute break and then we'll finish the last track," My producer told me.

"A'ite. Shot," I nodded before he left my studio room.

As if on cue, my phone began to ring and it was Lottie calling.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Nathan! Are you busy right now?"

"I'm in studio but I have a break. Why?" I questioned.

"Wonderful. I'll be there in ten."

"Okay, sure. But wh -" I began to question but she had already hung up the phone.

I don't actually mind seeing Lottie whenever because she's a fun person to be around. Me being best friends with Emmiey meant being friends with her which was perfectly fine.

Hah, I remember back in school when my parents forced me to take her to her junior prom because her date had fallen sick with measles or something. I was a senior and obviously she was a junior. It was actually a lot of fun. I was also her first kiss that night. I distinctly remember walking her to her door and then it just happened.

"Nathan, the least you could have done is tell me which studio you're in," Lottie's voice said as she entered the room.

"Well you put the phone down before you could ask," I pointed out.

"Now's not the time to get smart, Maloley," She dead eyed me.

I scoffed dramatically. "Oh, Charlotte Oliver. Can you ever forgive me for being such a smartass?"

"I could...if you'll be my guinea pig," She said.

"Excuse me?"

"See, the reason I'm here. I've pretty much just invented a new sugar cookie recipe and I need someone to try it out for me," She explained. "I already asked Emmiey but she yelled at me and told she's already gained like four pounds since we started living together."

I couldn't help but laugh a little at that. "Well if it means I get to be the first to try them, then why not."

"Wonderful!" She grinned before opening the metallic box she had brought along.

She then began to tell me about the ingredients and stuff she had used, and as she spoke, I couldn't help but be a little infactuated by the twinkle in her grey eyes and for the first time, I began to notice the little things. Like how pink her lips were, and how she wore very minimal make up compared to other girls, the way her dyed dark hair accentuated her eyes and just...how damn pretty she is.

"Nate? Are you listening to me?" She asked, snapping her fingers in front of my eyes and bringing me back into focus.

"Sorry," I mumbled. "I was just focused on...the cookies. Yep, the cookies."

"I should have explained before I told you about them," She said, shaking her head with a laugh and then handing me one of the cookies.

As I bit into the sweet treat, my tastebuds immediately started having a field day.

"I should have listened to what you put in here but oh my god, this is probably the best thing I've ever tasted," I told her.

"So once again, I have outdone myself," She winked with a flip of her hair.

"You should give me tasting creds or something like that," I laughed.

"Oh, yeah. Totally," She said sarcastically, laughing as well.

And then for a second I managed to zone out on her again. Why am I only just noticing how beautiful Lottie Oliver actually is?

"What? Do I have something on my face or what?" She asked, noticing that I had zoned out.

"No, um, it's just uh, wow. You're so beautiful," I said.

I watched as her cheeks turned a deep scarlet colour and she looked down in attempts to hide her blush.

"Shut up," She mumbled.

"What? I'm not allowed to compliment you?" I asked with a teasing smile.

"It's just...I haven't heard that in a while," She said. "I can't even remember the last time Michael had said that to me."

"Your ex?"

"Yeah," She sighed sadly.

Emmiey had told me about Michael cheating on Lottie, and I honestly don't understand why someone would want to hurt her. I mean, there's no way in hell she deserves it.

"Well he should have," I said, putting my index finger underneath her chin and tilting her head up.

"Nate?"

"Yeah?"

"Shut up. I hate blushing," She said, laughing a little.

"Remember that night of your junior prom? When I kissed you? You blushed so hard," I teased.

"Naaate!" She groaned, causing me to laugh.

"But damn, Lottie. You deserve to be told every fucking day that you're beautiful."

"Why do I feel like this is an awful attempt at you trying to flirt with me?" She asked.

"Because maybe it is," I said with a small smirk.

I don't know why I've never seen it before but...man, Lottie's fucking perfect in every way.

"Why?"

"I don't know," I answered. "But I'm gonna kiss you now."

She looked a little taken back by my sudden declaration -and honestly, so was I - but she simply nodded.

And then I finally kissed her.

Man, kissing her felt great. I know this sounds cliché as fuck, but there were sparks and shit. I actually had fucking feels.

Like, it felt better than that rush you get once you've rolled the perfect blunt. Better than the relaxing sensation that runs through you when you take the first hit.

Kissing Lottie is better than weed.

"Yo, Skate. Do you wanna - Oh, sorry," My producer's voice said, causing Lottie and I to pull away from our kiss which ticked me off a little.

"Nah, um, i-it's fine," I said, still slightly dazed.

"I um, I should go," Lottie said as she stood up and grabbed her bag. "Enjoy them," She said, referring to the box of cookies she was leaving behind before she left.

"Sorry. I should have knocked," My producer said with a small smirk.

"Don't worry about it," I said with a small smile.

And ladies and gents, I think I just fell in love with this girl from the midwest. Happens to go by the name of Charlotte Oliver.

In case it didn't click, I messed around with the lyrics of I'm In Love. I thought this was quite cute, right?

Oh, and I was wondering for my American readers, does it sound weird when you guys say Lottie? Like, idk. It sounds like normal to me and British people but like idk about you guys. Does it?
