I chuckled silently at the ridiculousness of the situation. In a flash, Shawn's eyes broke away from his sisters and rested on mine with mock hurt flashing in them.
"Aww why are you laughing?" he pouted causing my giggles to grow worse, "I thought I was hot."
Still grinning broadly, I ruffled his hair playfully and tugged on both of their arms.
"That's great and all Shawn, but you can tell me about your 'hotness' after we get into the amusement park."
Pretending to be angry, he allowed me to drag him over to the gates of the amusement park.
------------
"Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!!" I yelled while twirling around. "There are so many freakin' rides! How do we decide which one to go on first?!"
Catching up to me, Cy-Cy and Shawn took a quick breather while shooting me side long glances. I wasn't exactly using my indoor voice.
"Oh my gosh! We have to go on that one first!" I pointed upwards to the huge roller coaster with a smile the size of Kentucky plastered on my face.
"And look! There's barely anyone in line! C'mon let's go!"
Not waiting for the siblings say in the matter, I began sprinting to the line-up for the roller coaster. Holy fudgeballs this thing was huuuge!
As the line-up grew shorter and shorter, my excitement slowly began to turn into nervous fear. Watching people dizzily come off the ride did nothing to quench it either.
Is this really a good idea?
"Don't tell me the mighty Brooklyn is afraid of a little rollercoaster?"
Whizzing around, I locked eyes with Shawn who was smirking down at me. Behind him was Cy-Cy who had her arms folded over her chest. Turning back to Shawn, I sent him a half-hearted glare.
"I-I'm not sca-scared."
Quirking an eyebrow up at me in disbelief, he stared at me for a few moments before shrugging.
"Oh well, it's our turn anyway. Lead the way fearless leader."
Beads of sweat began to form on my forehead as Shawn began to shove me onto the boarding platform. Squeezing my eyes shut, I took a few shaky deep breaths in attempt to compose myself.
"Are you coming or not?"
Slowly opening my eyes, I glanced down at Shawn who had already taken his seat on the ride and was now shooting me a devilish smirk. Hesitantly nodding, I sat down on the cushioned seat next to Shawn while Cy-Cy followed suit to my opposite side. Immediately my breathing began to grow shallow.
Drowning out my surroundings, I closed my eyes and tried to calm myself down.
It's just a machine Brooklyn. It's just a machine. It can't hurt you.
My thoughts were interrupted as a cushioned bar was placed securely across my upper body. Merely seconds later my eyes shot open as the beast began to roar to life.
This was definitely not a good idea.
"Uh, maybe I should get off? I'm not feeling so well after all," I mumbled under my breath as my eyes stared longingly at the exit sign behind Shawn.
"Nuh uh Brooklyn," my head snapped towards Cy-Cy, "I didn't wake up this early in the morning for you to chicken out. You're going to ride this damn thing and you're going to enjoy every second of it."
Wincing at her harsh tone, I leaned back in my chair and once again tried to calm myself down. C'mon Brooklyn, go to your happy place. A loud grumble disturbed my efforts. Dammit! Nothing was working.
Out of nowhere, I felt something gently grip my hand. Confused, I looked down at it to see Shawn's hand placed firmly in mine.
"You'll be fine shortie."
Sending him a weak smile, I stared straight ahead waiting for the ride to begin.
It rumbled to a start and as the machine began to move forward, my heart lurched in my chest.
My grip on Shawn's hand tightened as the roller coaster began to tilt upwards as it ascended the metal hill.
Breath. I urged myself. Just breath. In. Out. In. Out. In. In. Out. In. In. In...wait that wasn't right.
My breathing began to speed up as we grew closer to the peak of the hill. Closing my eyes, I begun to do what came first to my mind.
I prayed. I prayed urgently that I would make it off this ride alive.
"Brooklyn calm down. We're almost done. Look, there's where we started."
I opened my eyes just as the ride pulled to a stop. He was right, there was the station - right where we started. There was only one problem.
We were about 50 billion feet above it.
I was too frozen in fear to strangle Shawn for tricking me.
We were so high up. Everything was so small from up here. It was kind of...cool.
"Enjoying the view?"
Glancing to my right, I looked over at Cy-Cy who was now sending me a wide grin.
"Yeah. It's not that bad aft-"
I stopped cold as the ride slowly began to kick up again. My blood stopped flowing and my heart began beating rapidly.
"Sh-Shawn? Wh-"
We were going to die.
Shutting my eyes tight, I screamed loudly as the roller coaster plunged downwards.
