Legends say that those who climb the mountain never return.
But that was why Mari was here, wasn't it? She didn't want to return. Who would want to return to parents who didn't want her? Who just abused her? Who never showed kindness? No one. Today was just the worst of it, even without being physically beat. But now, now she could get away from it. She could be free. Free from that crushing atmosphere.
But she didn't notice the hole. She didn't see the vines curled where her foot stepped. And so she fell. She fell down down down into an unknown world.
