Every year on the Marauder's birthdays the others would pretend to forget then throw a huge party. This worked pretty well for the first couple years until they fell into the flow of "forgetting". One year they decided to play a trick on Peter - it was Sirius's idea, actually. So basically they decided to "actually forget" his birthday and have a party for him a week later. Peter was so upset he didn't talk to them for the whole week even though they were his only friends. When all of Gryffindor house jumped up from behind the couches and armchairs to scream happy birthday, Peter was so surprised he peed himself. That was the day Peter vowed to never lose his friends...ever.
