John laughed, this was crazy. "Surely not even you are smart enough to pull this off!"

Mycroft flashed him a smile, "Anythings possible with some," he paused to gesture towards John "Willing participants."

He shook his head, a serious expression on his face. "No, Mycroft there's no bloody point to this! Sherlock Holmes is an emotionless robot, nothing is going to happ-

"We don't know that John, he was always a great actor when we were kids, for all we know he may be faking! I care about my little brother very much, John, I need to know the truth." Mycroft cut in, a certain type of sadness dripped from his words, which made John think.

The room was silent, the only sound being the almost rhythmic tap of Mycroft's umbrella against the concrete. "Fine, fine, you win. What do I have to do?"

Anthea walked over with a bag full of cameras, and a file on a woman by the name of Amanda Ventham.

"All you have to do is place these cameras around the flat, and learn everything you can about this wom-

"Who is she?" John interrupted.

"she's playing as your sisters new girlfriend. She will pick you up from 221b, you will then get into her car and she will take you to the place I have arranged for you to stay."

"What about Sherlock? What does he know?"

"You will tell him there has been a family crisis, he will be under the impression you are staying at your sisters for the next two weeks."

John laughed, this really was mental. Did Mycroft really think one little lie would convince Sherlock? Not even criminal masterminds could fool Sherlock, there was no way something as cliché as a family crisis would fool him.

"so, what do you say, Dr. Watson?" Mycroft asked as he swung his umbrella around.

John snatched the bag of small cameras and the file from Anthea and stormed off to the black car, "Does this answer your question?!" He shouted angrily and slammed the car door.

Mycroft laughed quietly, "Take him home Anthea." He said as he walked off with a smile.

Project separation is go.

John got out of the car, dragging his large suitcase behind him. To his right stood Mycroft, dressed in a green suit with hideous brown shoes. The last time he had saw the man, they were in a warehouse discussing this stupid plan.

They exchanged smiles, shook hands, and then got straight down to business. "The cameras have been installed, everything has gone smoothly."

"Was he suspicious?" Mycroft asked, straightening his atrocious suit.

"Didn't seem like it," John began as his teeth started to chatter "Aren't you cold? Bloody hell its freezing! Can I go inside now?"

Mycroft started to walk away, "Yes, Amanda will show you to your flat." He said as he got into his car, and drove off. He watched John walk inside until he fell out of view, hoping that the electricians were done installing the cameras.

In a way he felt bad for doing this, for lying to Sherlock, for lying to John; for the whole experiment really. Although, he wasn't doing it for fun. He felt horrible for separating them, but he had to know, know the truth about the crime solving duo living at 221b Baker Street.
