RWBY: The Mind Of A Genius

A New Team Member

"Finally! We're back!" Ruby said happily, as she looked up at the huge castle that was Beacon.
"Yay. Another year of dealing with the White Fang, Grimm, and other crap." Weiss said sarcastically.
Yang wrapped her arm around Weiss's shoulders. "Come on, cheer up, Weiss! Maybe this year won't be so bad!"
"You say that every year, Yang, and yet it seems like it gets harder and harder." Blake said, crossing her arms.
"No need to be a joy kill, Blake!" Yang said, taking her arm off of Weiss's shoulders. "Maybe we can all finally meet our 'other halves' this year!"
"I highly doubt anyone would want to date Weiss, simply because she's a bit mean," Ruby said, earning a glare from Weiss. "I don't know if anyone would want to date Blake, once they find out she used to be White Fang,"
"Gee, thanks." Blake snapped.
"Yang has anger issues,"
"What?! No I don't!"
"And I'm the youngest person here!"
"I'm not mean!" Weiss said.
"All I'm saying is, I don't think we'll find anyone here that would want to date us."
"Never give up hope, Ruby." Blake said as they walked into the school.
"I'm not saying that we won't meet anyone, ever! I'm saying that we might not meet anyone here, at this school."
Suddenly, Goodwitch's voice came on the intercom. "Team RWBY, please report to Professor Ozpin's office. I repeat, Team RWBY please report to Professor Ozpin's office. Thank you."
"What would Ozpin want? The semester just started. Weiss said.
"I dunno. Let's just go to his office and see what he wants." Blake said.
A few minutes later...
Ozpin stared out the window at all the new students attending Beacon. It was amazing that, despite all of the deaths of Hunters and Huntresses, children would still want to fight for Vale, and by extension, Remnant. He sipped his coffee as he pondered on this.
"Professor? You wanted to see us?" A voice said.
"Hmm? Oh yes, yes, of course." Ozpin said as he turned around and looked at team RWBY. "I have a new team member for you." He simply said.
"Ummm.... What?" Yang said, confused.
"Sir, there are already four of us here. Why would we need another team member?" Blake asked, just as confused as Yang was.
"Glynda, may I have my Scroll, please?" He asked Goodwitch. She placed the Scroll in his hand. "Thank you." He said as a put his coffee on his desk and opened his Scroll. He opened a file on it marked "Barton, Rennard." He handed the Scroll to Ruby, whose teammates looked over her shoulder at a man in a blue trenchcoat, his back to the camera, with his hands on his head, as if he was trying to cover something.
All of the pictures were like this, in fact. His face was never shown, and his hands were always on his head. "His name is Rennard Barton. He is your new teammate." Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang just stared at him. "Two years ago, he applied at Beacon. He was going to become the youngest person ever to attend Beacon, at age 14. He had experiences with Grimm, and his fighting skills are exceptional. He was to be enrolled immediately. However, all the spots were filled. But now, a spot has opened up, but we don't have enough space to create a whole new team, so I'm assigning him to yours. Any questions?"
"Why us, sir?" Ruby asked.
Ozpin didn't say anything. He handed Ruby a piece of paper with an address on it, and took back his Scroll. "What's this?" Weiss asked, snatching the paper out of Ruby's hand.
"That's where you'll find him." Ozpin stated as he sat on his desk and sipped his coffee.
There was a brief silence before Yang realized something. "Hey wait a minute. Isn't that the Vale Morgue?"
"Is he dead?!" Ruby asked.
"How can he be on our team, and be dead?" Blake asked.
"Maybe he's a zombie!" Ruby said.
"Zombies aren't real you dunce! " Weiss said.
"Ladies. Perhaps you would like to go and meet your new teammate." Ozpin said. The team looked at each each other for a moment, then nodded. "Good. Now off you go."
"Bye, Professor!" Ruby waved as she walked out of the door.
Ozpin sipped his coffee again. "Do you really think it was a good idea to put him on their team? You and I both know how he is. What he's capable of." Glynda said.
"I know." Ozpin said. "But they are the best team in all of Remnant. They'll keep him in line."
"And if he goes out of line?"
Ozpin got off of his desk and looked out the window towards the city. "RWBY will make sure he doesn't." He said as he sipped his coffee.
