Chapter One: Entering The Machine

The brute slammed against the glass, sliding down to the ground as he failed once more.

"It's pointless, you know."

"Why do you say that?" The male growled.

The female wolf blinked at him. "I've tried multiple times. It's not going to budge, let alone break." She sighed.

Vince's eyes softened. "If you give up, you die. That's just how the world works now. And if you have a strong enough motive, anything is possible! Don't let the humans win!"

"You can't stop them from operating on you."

"Don't you think I know that?!"

"Hell, they've already claimed your right back leg, your front left leg, part of your spine bones, and your left eye! Don't you get it? You can't get those back! They are gone!"

"I know that already!" He crashed into the glass once more, only to look up and stare at the canine on the other side.

"They want to make you believe that their technology is making you better. Sure, it might make you stronger, but it's getting rid of your pride! Fight for what left of your original body." Her voice got quiet.

"I-I can't..." Came a surprising response as tears began to run down his face.

"Vince..." Nova mumbled as the humans viewed the two carnivores from above, in a huge glass box, only this box actually had walls.

"I'm scared, Nova. I'm scared about what they might do to you! I've only been here for a few months, and it's been torture!"

"I know that you are scared. So am I..."

Above, the humans were talking amongst each other.

"Why should we have that one keep his genitals? We removed the genitals off the last one..."

"We were thinking that we could breed him with the female next to him. He's a tough fighter, and we need that kind of spirit."

"Alright, fine, but have some men bring in the female. I want to see what condition she's in. If she's ill, then it won't matter. She has to be healthy enough to give birth to a litter. Then, we'll have pups, and we can do whatever we want with them."

"And what about the father?"

"He's not going to care. We'll probably just kill him after we're finished with him."

"Very well. Send in the men!" One of the male workers demanded.
