There was a lonely pilot,
Once to scared to fly.
For if he messed up,
He knew he'd surely die.

This lonely pilot has gone complacent.
Growing bare and old.
For the fact he's lost a lot,
He has nothing left to hold.

He knows his jet can go again,
He's scared to take that seat.
For what if it were to crash?
Surely he'd never find his peak.

He wants to escape,
He just wants to leave.
All he's known before,
His skills, never to be retrieved.

This lonely pilot is stuck,
Stuck up on the ground,
Wanting to just fly away.
This will be his second round.

He braves himself,
Sets himself up to take off.
His jet plane stutters,
Engine clanking with a cough.

His plane begins to fly,
For just a mere second.
High up in the sky,
His engine fried he reckon'

His plane crashes the earth,
Another failed attempt.
He retires inside,
Knowing he's not content.

He is only used to failure,
Wondering of what will finally be.
This lonely little pilot,
Is actually just me.
