The whole day I felt weird. Like something was wrong. Like my brain was trying to tell me something but I wouldn't bother to listen. Like I knew something was true but couldn't, I wouldn't, believe it.
The next day Max was still missing. I was worried. Maybe he's sick and got his phone taken away. Whatever, he's fine. But part if me knew that wasn't true.
We have an assembly today. It was strange but, I like anything that means less class time.
The principal stood before us with a look of despair on her face. She waited for everyone to quiet down. Eventually she started speaking.
"Unfortunately, I am sorry to say," she now had tears in her eyes, "We have lost a student."
"Max died yesterday."
Now I know what I wouldn't believe was true.
