Celaena POV
I walked next to my best friend Feyre into the mansion where a friend of a friend was throwing a huge rave. Alcohol was being served, but only for those with IDs, unfortunately, we were only 17, so we were planning on cruising through the night sober. I had no idea who else was going – probably everyone who is anyone, which brings about the question, why the hell are we here. Well, Feyre's mum is friends with someone who has a son that is friends with a screenwriter who has done work for all big and upcoming bands scored us free tickets into this place. The hardest part of all this, is probably going to be looking like we fit in, in our cheap clothes and awkward personalities. We were told to wear clothes that showed at least a little skin, because this rave was a glow in the dark rave – blue lights and glow in the dark body paint. So here I was, freezing to death in a pair of shorts and a tank top, getting closer and closer to the front door.
"We can still bail." I said to Feyre.
"I'm pretty sure Zach is going to be waiting for us in there though." Feyre replied. Zach was the kid friends with the screenwriter. I sighed dramatically as we entered the building, instantly being engulfed in heat and sweaty bodies.
We walked over to the glow in the dark paint table. There was about a dozen people surrounding the table and it was almost impossible to get to the paint. Just as we reached our target some sleazy guy smelling of alcohol bumped into us.
"You want me to paint you, baby?" Feyre shivered beside me, repulsed. I was mentally gagging.
"I'm alright, thanks, I want to look half decent when this is done." I replied, and he walked off, muttering under his breath and shoving through the crowds.
"How do we do this?" Feyre asked, and I looked back at the paint. Honestly, I had no clue, I had no artistic bone in my body. The drunk guy probably could have drawn better.
"Do you need some paint?" A random girl asked us. Flashing us a glow in the dark smile, which reminded me of a Cheshire cat. Given the fact she looked like she knew what she was doing, we both nodded our heads and smiled back.
"That'd be great, thanks." I said.
"What do you want?" She asked coming around our side of the table with a brush.
"Whatever you think will look good." I replied awkwardly, having no experience in the matter. She nodded her head and selected a fluero pink colour and then turned back to me. I quickly looked to see Feyre being tended to by another girl who was painted all over.
It took, at least, ten minutes to be painted and for it to dry. Afterwards, we decided to join the rave and dance. There was a DJ mixing some tunes I'd never heard before on a raised platform in front of the massive crowd. Mist rose from the ground and different coloured lights seem to cut through the mist like a laser.
We joined the middle of the crowd, pushing past people and occasionally getting hit in spots I'd rather not be getting hit. However such things were expected to happen in a place like this. Perhaps I just needed to loosen up a bit.
"Feyre!" Someone yelled, and we both turned to look for the source in the crowd of people. It turned out to be a man right beside us.
"Zach!" Feyre yelled back over the loud music. "Sick party!"
"I know right!" He replied. He shouted something else, but we were both at a loss.
"What?" Feyre yelled back. He pulled a confused face.
"This is Celaena!" Feyre yelled, trying to introduce us.
"You brought a sofa?" he yelled, confused. Feyre laughed.
"No, this is Celaena!" She yelled again.
"Oh!" He said and smiled at me. I smiled back politely, though I kind of just wanted to dance. And by dance I mean jump on the spot flailing my arms using up all my energy. I was most certainly not a dancer.
"Enjoying the party?" Feyre asked. I rolled my eyes at her for continuing the conversation.
"Mhhh." Zach reply. "Anyway, I have some more friends to catch. So y'all enjoy the party." Zach yelled before meandering off.
Feyre and I danced in the middle of the crowd for an hour before she claimed she needed to go to the bathroom. I rolled my eyes because I knew she hadn't gone before we left – she'd been running late as usual. We took off in the direction of the restrooms, I could cool down while we were there.
Feyre POV
I walked ahead of Celaena, making a beeline for the toilets. I checked she was behind me every few seconds just to make sure, no way I wanted to lose her in this mansion. There was a door that led to the bathroom up ahead, which, I'm assuming, would then lead to two more doors. We had almost reached the door and I checked yet again to make sure Celaena was still behind me. When I turned back around I was met with a door, but it was too late to do anything about it as it slammed into my face. I shrieked and fell backwards, bruising my butt. I groaned as I held my forehead, wincing in pain. There was a muffled curse before a masculine voice started apologising.
"I'm so sorry." Someone said, reaching down to grab my arm and pull me back up onto my feet.
"Maybe if you hadn't drunk so much this wouldn't have happened." Celaena said under her breath. I looked up at the guy who had slammed me with a toilet door and was met with the face of... Luke Hemmings?
"It's fine." I said, "I should have been watching." I said. Now that I knew who he was and knew he was famous, I was a tad intimidated and shy. He laughed a bit.
"Yeah, next time you should try and walk through the door, not into it." He smiled and let go of my arms, walking away. I gaped, did he seriously just have the audacity to say that?
I went inside and peed. I was very relieved. Now dancing can commence.
Celaena and I returned to break out some killer moves and maybe grab some non-alcoholic drinks afterwards.
