You didn't know what to do. Everything in your mind told you not to, but your stomach told you differently. You were starving. You hadn't eaten in days. You had to steal portions.

You snuck into the booth where a man was handing out portions. You hid and reached out to grab a package. The man turned at the worst possible moment, right as you grabbed the portions. "Thief," the man said loudly. You took that as your cue to run. As you ran, you looked over your shoulder to see an officer chasing after you. You turned a corner and slammed into a boy a few years older than you.

"Are you okay," he asked quickly. The boy had warm brown eyes and brown curly hair, all around a very attractive person. Before you could answer him, the officer came over and yanked you off the ground. "What did she do, officer," the boy asked quickly. "She was caught stealing portions," the officer explained. The boy looked you over, noticing your incredibly frail figure.

"I'm so sorry, officer. My sister doesn't understand what she's doing sometimes. It's quite tragic actually," the boy said. "If I pay for the portions, will you let her go?" The officer nodded and let go of you. You went and hid behind the boy, who towered over you. He gave the officer the money to pay it and the officer left.

"Stealing portions, huh? What's your name? Mine's Poe, Poe Dameron," the boy said, flashing an amazing smile. "I-I'm (Y/N)," you said quietly. Poe tilted his head a little to the side. "Last name," he asked. You shook your head. You hated the family you came from. Your father hit you and then both of your parents left you. "Ah okay," he continued. "Well little missy, you're going home with me."

He grabbed your wrist, causing you to violently flinch away. "Hey hey hey, what's wrong," Poe asked, kneeling down a little to be eye level with you. He gently put his hands on your shoulder, causing you to flinch a little again. "I don't know what happened you before now, but please trust me. I won't hurt you. I'm just trying to help you; give you a place to stay, food, and whatever else you may need," Poe said softly.

You felt something that you hadn't felt in a long time. You quickly hugged him, you couldn't help it. You had just met this boy but it felt like you'd known him for a long time. Poe seemed a bit taken aback by the hug but hugged you back. "I promise I'll keep you safe," he said quietly. He grabbed your hand this time. "Come on. Let's go," he said with a smile.
