chapter one

Beep! Beep! Beep!
I wake up to the sound of my phone going off. I sit up and rub my eyes, which helps wake me up. I'm not a morning person at all, just so you know.

I rolled off the twin sized air mattress that I had fell asleep on. Then finally it hits me, it's moving day!

I stand up and start heading to the bathroom that is just outside my room. I see that my brother is still asleep in his room, and I assume my mom and dad are as well so I walk very slowly and quietly.

When I stare into the mirror, I can see that my dark brown hair is all over the place. I grab my contacts case and put my contacts in. I then brush my teeth and put my hair in a messy bun and creep back to my room. I go back into my room and change out of my pajamas, into a pair of black leggings and a sweatshirt.

Just as I finished getting dressed, I hear my mom call my name from downstairs.
"Ashtin, are you up and ready to go?!"

"Yes Mom! Are we leaving now?

"Yes, grab anything that you didn't pack up last night!"

I go to the bathroom and grab the small stuff that I left out like my contacts case, toothbrush, and my glasses and head downstairs.

When I get down stairs I see my mom, brother and dad ready to go.

"Go get loaded up in the car!" my dad says.

Then we take off. Heading toward our new life in Virginia.
