Chapter 10: You Were The Last Good Thing About This Part Of Town

Start from the beginning

"Amazing, isn't she?" I said to no one in particular. "An amazing girl that I've completely missed my chance with.

I dropped my head into my hands, until suddenly I heard a voice, "Patrick?"

Reader's POV

You heard muffled talked outside the bus and immediately set down the guitar. You scanned the surroundings for your hoodie, nothing. Oh, right. I lost my hoodie... With an idea fresh in your head, you scurry to the back of the bus. Unzipping your suitcase and quickly pulling on Patrick's jacket that you stuffed away, you pulled up the collar and snuck back towards the door. You cautiously leaned out the doors, seeing someone sitting up against bus.

As You looked closer you began to recognize the 'someone', "Patrick?"

He looked over to you, his face half-lit by the glow of a street lamp. You hopped off the steps and began striding towards him.

He turned his head away from you as you sat next to him, pulling your knees up to your chest to mimic him.

"I thought you were supposed to be at the club with the guys," You questioned. "What happened?"

Patrick looked back at you, as his eyes locked with yours you could see a ghost of a smile return to his face, "Uh, I guess... I guess I just wasn't in the mood."

"Oh, really?" You returned the tender smirk.

"Yeah, I'd much rather be sitting on the grimy pavement of a bus station parking lot." Patrick rolled his eyes playfully at you and gave you a breathy chuckle.

"Oh, shut up," He gave a bigger laugh as you shove his arm over.

He springs back and nudges your shoulder with his, "Hey."

"Hey, there," You raise an eyebrow at him.

"I heard you," He nodded back at the bus. "Singing..."

"Oh..." Your face suddenly flushed a bright red, "Oh!"

"Why didn't you tell me you could sing... or play guitar for that matter?" He said, exasperated.

You brought your hand up to rub the back of your neck, "I just sing for fun, and as for the guitar? I only know that one song..."

"Well, you're good," he smiled. "And maybe, I don't know, I could teach you how to play some of our other songs."

"I think I'd like that."

He shrugged, "Who knows, maybe you'll even have to replace me in the band."

I chuckle, "Let's wait to have a band meeting until a few lessons in, okay?"

"I can see it now," Patrick puts on his announcer voice, holding up his hands for emphasis. "(Y/N) (Y/L/N), new frontman of Fall Out Boy!"

You chortle some more, stifling your laughter by burying your face into his shoulder. After your giggles subside, you keep your head rested there. You smile, you'd missed this. Just talking.

The two of you sat there for a moment in comfortable silence, only accompanied by each others presence.

"(Y/N), I-" He sighed, putting his head in his hands.

You lifted your head off of his shoulder, "What?"

He looked up from his hands slightly, cerulean eyes gleaming under the light of the street lamp.

"'Trick," You sat up on your ankles, taking his hands from his face. "You know you can tell me anything, right?"

He nodded, staring into your eyes. Probably searching for an ounce of insincerity, but he wouldn't find any.

Taking a deep breath, he started again, "Y'know the concert that we brought you up on stage for about a week ago?"

"Yeah..."

"I-I wanted say something after we sang together, I should have, I j-just-" He faltered, pausing in discomposure.

"Patrick," Your voice came out unexpectedly shaky, you'd never seen Patrick like this before. "You can tell me..."

There was a long pause between you, as he looked at you contemplatively.

He started singing, just like you were before, "You're just the girl all the boys want to dance with and I'm just the boy who's had too many chances..." He looked down, bowing his head away from you.

You paused, knocking your finger under his chin, tilting his gaze to meet yours, "So say, what are you waiting for? Kiss her, kiss her..."

His eyes went wide as you leaned over him, slowly shortening the distance between the two of you.

As he stared fixedly at your lips, the light freckles that danced across his face soon came into view. He scrambled for a place to put his hands, finally deciding on your waist. Your noses bumped slightly as you slipped your fingers into the hair on the nape of his neck. Your eyes fluttered closed as his hot breath fanned against your lips right before they brushed together. He, then, pulled you in tighter, fitting your lips together gently.

You could feel your heart beating in your throat as his calloused fingers worked their way up to the sides of your face. His soft lips ebbed and flowed with yours in succession. He kissed you harder for a brief second before pulling away lightly.

Your eyes opened back up to stare at the enamored sight of Patrick Vaughn Stump. Biting your lip, you sat back on your heels, smiling slightly to yourself.

Scoffing in disbelief, he started, "(Y/N), that was-"

"Oh, hey guys!" Rang out a familiar voice.

You looked behind you to see an unaware Pete strolling up to the bus, "What are you two doing out here and 'Trick, what was up with ditching us at the club?

"I-uh, well..." Patrick stuttered out.

"He was still tired from last nights show and we just wanted to get a little fresh air," You supplied.

Patrick nodded in agreement with your story.

"Yeah, well, if you've gotten enough fresh air. I'm gonna make a midnight snack before I head to bed, want some?"

"Sure," Patrick stood up, you, in turn, followed his lead.

As soon as Pete turned away to walk back to the bus, Patrick slipped his hand into yours, interlacing your fingers.

He simpered, you squeezed his hand gently in return. You'd better set your clocks early tomorrow, it's been an eventful night.
