The door slid open smoothly, and I stepped into the train compartment.
I waved goodbye to my mum, who was standing on platform nine and three quarters outside my window, her tanned cheeks stained with tears as she waved me off for another couple of weeks.

The train began to crawl to life, and soon we were speeding out of the station and into the luscious grass green fields of the English countryside.

The carriage was empty, except from a single man in the corner, who appeared to be fast asleep. His trunk was sitting next to him, and it read R J Lupin. Maybe he was a teacher coming to the school?

I brushed off the thought as I looked down at my heavy trunk with a sigh. I picked it up with difficulty, and with a heave, attempted to lift it above to the rack near the ceiling for luggage.

One, I was the grand height of five foot one, and I couldn't even touch the rail if I was on my tiptoes. Two, this suitcase weighed more than a small baby walrus.
To make a long story short, it was a lost cause.

Whilst I was struggling, I heard the door open behind me. I tried to turn whilst holding up the suitcase, but unfortunately it didn't work, and it began to fall towards me.

A pair of strong hands darted in front of me, and caught the suitcase before it could do any damage. I turned to face my saviour, and I had to look up as my eyes scanned a pair of broad shoulders.

I felt my heart begin to race at the speed of light as I looked up to a face beautiful emerald green orbs, smooth skin, a jawline so sharp it should have a health and safety notice on it, and a warm smile that made me weak at the knees.

He placed the suitcase on the rack with ease, and turned to face me, his eyes widening slightly when his beautiful green eyes met my chocolate brown ones.

"Hi, I'm Harry." He said gently, holding out a hand for me to shake.

"I'm Ava." I said slowly, biting my lip nervously.

He sat down onto one of the train seats and I sat next to him, and we talked with each other for a while. He was very easy to talk to, so our conversations wandered from topic to topic.

"I haven't seen you at Hogwarts before, are you a transfer?" He asked curiously, and I shook my head.

"No, I just lived too far away to come to Hogwarts, but my mum decided that this year we were going to move closer so I can get an education." I said excitedly.

"Are you moving into third year then?" I asked Harry curiously.

He nodded.
"Me too!" I said, and a warm smile spread over his face.

"Maybe we will get sorted into the same house!" He exclaimed.

I laughed at his expression, and smiled warmly at him.

Suddenly, the door to our compartment burst open, and a beautiful girl burst in, with curly brown hair, pale skin and huge brown eyes. She was accompanied by a lanky boy, with electric ginger hair, and a ruddy complexion, along with a mass of freckles all over his face. The most alarming feature of him was his eyes. They were a bright azure shade, and they contrasted with his red hair perfectly.

"Harry! There you are! We've been searching this whole bloody train to find you mate!" The ginger boy practically yelled.

The pretty girl glared at him.
"Ron! Will you shut up! There is a man in the corner, sleeping!" She whisper shouted, and then turned to Harry, a huge smile on his face.
"Harry! You've gotten so tall over the summer!" She said kindly, and pulled him into a hug. A twinge of jealousy ran through me, but I brushed it off.
"Its good to see you Hermione. " Harry said in his calm voice.

"Harry, who's this?" Ron said with a smirk.

Harry turned to smile at me.
"This is Ava. She's a new student in third year."

I waved and Hermione came and sat next to me. We began to talk and soon, I knew we would be friends. I hope I got a dorm with Hermione. She was really lovely.

I sighed in happiness. It looked like this was going to be a great year.
