There was a knock on the door and Skulduggery got up from the couch where Valkyrie and Gabrielle were sitting. Valkyrie had Sophie in her lap, and was feeding her with a bottle. Gabrielle paused the movie, and followed her brother. It had been an hour, and Tyrell still hadn't turned up. No one had brought up the incident back at the Sanctuary, no one really wanted to. Valkyrie and Gabrielle still had no idea what Tyrell had said to Skulduggery, and it didn't seem as though he was going to tell them. She was starting to get worried about him now.

The blonde girl stood in the doorway of the lounge room and watched as Skulduggery opened the front door. He greeted Valkyrie's parents, and stepped to the side to let Melissa and Desmond Edgley in. Alice was right behind them. They both nodded at Gabrielle, and she smiled warmly as Alice wrapped her little arms around her.

Valkyrie stood up from the couch, placing Sophie's bottle on the coffee table. Melissa's hands went to her mouth and tears fell down her cheeks when she saw her daughter.

"Oh Valkyrie," she exclaimed, and Valkyrie smiled, looking up to see Skulduggery leaning against the wall with his arms folded across his chest. Desmond walked towards Valkyrie, and wrapped her in a careful hug before staring at Sophie.

"Hello little person," he said, and Sophie gurgled. Melissa hugged her daughter and Valkyrie laughed.

"Mum, please don't cry."

"I'm sorry," Melissa replied, wiping her eyes gently. "I get over emotional."

"Yeah," Desmond muttered. "Especially about anal sex..."

"What was that?"

"Nothing!" Desmond said quickly, and Valkyrie bit back a laugh. Skulduggery bit his bottom lip and shuffled his feet. Melissa shook her head, and looked at Sophie, whose brown eyes were exploring the room.

"She's beautiful Val. She has your eyes."

Valkyrie smiled as Alice bounded up to her sister and hugged her leg.

"Hello Alice," the dark haired woman said.

"Valkyrie, is that your baby?"

"She is," Valkyrie replied. "This is Sophie."

She leant down so that Alice could see the baby properly. Her sister's eyes stared at Sophie, and she smiled.

"She's so cute," Alice said, and Gabrielle giggled.

"Would you like to stay for lunch?" Valkyrie asked her parents. "There's plenty of food in the fridge."

"I can make something," Gabrielle said, and Valkyrie shot her a grin.

"That sounds wonderful," Melissa replied. "I will help you Gabby."

"Really?" Melissa asked as Gabrielle turned on the stove. The blonde girl sighed.

"Yeah. That's probably why I don't have many friends."

"That's a long time though. Who were you with?"
