Jade sat on a brick wall outside of school, trembling. Hot tears, about to spill, blurred her vision. Her combat boots clicked against the wall as she penned a design on her jeans, angrily scratching away. The ink bled as she drew, but she didn't care. The ink would wash away- it always did.

Abby had confronted her yet again. She had spewed insults at Jade. "You should just kill yourself!" she had finished with.

At that thought, Jade jerked the pen up the length of her thigh, tears now streaming down her face. Sometimes, she did feel like she deserved to die. She was at the end of her rope, and after all she had gone through, it felt as if she was hanging on by a thread.

As soon as school had ended, she had rushed to her locker, desperate for her special pen. It had been a gift from Elise. Elise, Jade thought. At least I still have Elise. Yes, she was at the end of her rope, but Elise was ready to catch her.
