It was Christmas Eve, Lydia's favourite day of the year, or at least it used to be. When she was a little girl her mom and dad would always take her to this amazing ice skate show on Christmas Eve, and she loved it. She was always counting the days until Christmas.
But right then Christmas was just a reminder of how lonely she was. Her mum was in Hawaii with Pete (or was it Daniel?), and Allison was visiting her family in France with Scott. And she was actually pretty okay with that.
Because now that she was older, Christmas Eve was just a day like every other to Lydia. She would just sit on her couch in her pyjamas with a bag of chips and watch Friends. Kira and Malia had called her earlier if she wanted to join them for dinner, but she had politely declined and told them she and her mom already had plans. She never wanted anyone's pity, even though her friends had the best intentions.
As she was just about to open her second bag of chips, the doorbell rang. She assumed it was the pizza delivery and walked to the door. When she opened the door it wasn't who she thought it would be.
A guy with golden eyes and chestnut hair was standing on her doorstep with a shy smile on his face.
"Merry Christmas, Lydia."
She was pretty surprised to see him, but felt a happy flutter deep in her stomach. "Stiles." she said curiously. "What brings you here, on Christmas Eve after all?" He looked up at her to meet her eyes and smiled truthfully at her.
"Well, Kira told me about your 'plans' tonight, but I didn't buy it. And no one should be alone on Christmas." His words automatically brought a smile to her lips. But then she remembered; she wasn't a charity case.
"It's fine, my mom and I do have plans actually." He looked beside her through the door and a playfull smirk came to his lips.
"Oh, and where is she now? I don't see her." She rolled her eyes. It irritated her so much that he could see through her lies.
"She'll be here in a minute. We are going to make... Taco's. But thank you for stepping by. Merry Christmas." She said with a fake smile on her lips while closing the door.
He held his hand on the door so she couldn't close it and grinned at her. "You're a vegetarian, Lydia." She looked at him. Unbelievable. How did he always do that? He could read her like an open book. She sighed.
"Fine, you can come in. But I promise you; there won't be any fun." He stepped inside and smirked down at her.
"We'll see about that."
