Katniss POV:

Beep! Beep! My stupid alarm clock signifies my first day of high school. I'm a freshman, so I'm expecting to be pushed into lockers and slammed onto the ground by the upper classmen. I roll out of bed onto the hard floor. I grab a burgundy tank top, dark wash jean shorts, and a dark wash jean sweatshirt jacket. I go into the bathroom and do my daily morning routine.

I go downstairs and see my nine-year-old sister Prim sitting at the table. "Morning, little duck," I say entering the kitchen.

"Morning, Kat," she says calling me by my annoying nickname. "Are you nervous for your first day of high school?"

"No," I say. "It's gonna be fun."

"Ok," Prim says. "You better go or else you'll be late." I turn to the clock and it's 7:30. I only have fifteen minutes till school starts. I grab a granola bar and sprint to school.

I make it to school with five minutes to spare. I literally run into someone.

"Ew! It's ugly! Get it away from me!" Delly Cartwright, the school bitch, says.

"Ew! It's a bitch! Get it away from me!" one of my best friends Johanna Mason says coming up behind me. Delly rolls her eyes and just walks to her group of bitches.

"Thanks, Jo," I say.

"Anytime. I love saying mean things to bitches," Johanna says. She turns her head and says, "Oh look, bitch at two o'clock." I look in that direction and see two of my other best friends Clove and Glimmer. Johanna and Clove are best friends, but she hates Glimmer.

"Hey, guys," Glimmer says. "How were your summers?"

"Mine was ok," I say. "Everyone was away except for Gale and Peeta and those two can get annoying really fast. No girls. Just me and two boys."

Johanna says, "Peeta can only be a girl for so long."

"That's mean," I say.

"It's true though," Clove says.

"That's mean too!" I say. "Peeta's just...sensitive."

"Mhmm," Johanna says.

"Hey!" a high pitched voice says from behind me. Annie Cresta. My girl best friend in the entire world.

"Hey, Annie," I say turning around. She went to the Bahamas over the summer. Lucky duck. She runs up to me and hugs/suffocates me.

"I better be getting that love," her boyfriend Finnick says.

"Finnick!" Annie squeals. She runs over to him and jumps in his arms.

"Relationship goals!" Cato Hadley says. He stands in between Glimmer and Clove. He turns to Glimmer and says, "That could've been us, but noooo you're a bitch." Cato and Glimmer were dating over the summer but broke up because Cato thought she was a...well, there's no other way to put it but a bitch. Sorry, Glimmer.

"Finally, someone other than me who thinks that!" Johanna exclaims.

"Whatever. I don't care," Glimmer says rolling her eyes.

"Did you guys forget about us?" Gale asks sounding sad.

"I'm sorry, who are you?" I ask.

"Ouch, after spending all summer together, I would've thought you would have remembered our special times," Peeta says pretending to be dramatic. "Gale and I playing video games and you sitting there complaining. Us at the beach and you complaining. Going to the mall for you to shop and us complaining."
