4:39 a.m and I should be sleep. But as always, I'm not.

At this time I find myself staring at the stars. Trying to figure out which one she is.

It could be the one on the far left, the one that twinkles, but that would be silly, they all twinkle, or the one that could be shooting. Yet, I'm always mistaken. It's just a plane or something.

At this time I would hear footsteps coming and in the light of the door I see them heading my way. In order for me to avoid talking, I'd rush to my bed and hit the 'pretend sleep' mode.

The door open and there she was, my gram-grams.

She placed a kiss before realizing my curtains were open.

"So cold in here sweetie." Another kiss to the forehead. "Grandma loves you, okay. Sleep tight Lara."

As I pretend to shift in my bed, she closes the door and leaves. My grams. My heart.

"Did you get a goodnight sleep last night?"

I grabbed a piece of toast. "Yes Papa."

"Well music to my ears."

I gave him a morning hug as I noticed the faucet. "Broke again Pa?"

He sighed. "Yeah. I'm working on it."

"Pa, you should seriously consider calling someone."

"This old thing? I know how to fix it eh. Just need some tools."

I sipped some apple juice. "I'm going for a morning jogg before hockey practice. Would you like me to get them?"

"Very considerate of you but I've got it honey. Your old man could --"

"Learn to accept some help George."

"Well good morning to you too, Lorena."

Grandma came in on her cane and gave pops a smooch. I figured it was time to go.

"Now baby, I'd have to get you one of those machines."

My eyebrow lifted in a higher arch. "What machines grams?"

"Those things to where you run on it and jogg on it for as long as you won't."

"Treadmill? No thanks, I'd like to sweat the hard way. Plus, think."

Grams was very considerate. She had a huge heart. So did Papa George.

"Well, if you'd ever change your mind, just give me a signal to get it."

"Definitely grams. See you later okay. And practice might be long for me."

"Okay, why'd you say that darling?"

"Because we have a huge game coming up and coach is hard when it comes to things like this."

"Well, it's getting cold out yonda and I'd like for him to come see me for keeping my grand baby out so late."

"Oh, George! Don't mind him Lara, he's just talking out the side of his neck."

I couldn't help but giggle. I'd love these two pairing. I'd hope to one day have a love like them.

"Okay grandma, do you need anything while I'm out?"

"Some milk would be fine sweetie."

"Okay, you got it. Love you."

As I left I overheard Grams and Papa conversation.

"Save me some bacon George."

"You don't need it. Your poot stink."

"And yours don't?"

"Well you may have a point, but yours will probably kill me in silent."

"Oh just give me the bacon!"

Yep. Those were my folks.

My folks and I loved them.

My only folks. My mom's in heaven and I'm here. Being a mothers child.

Off to a jogg, off to get some milk, and off to practice.

I wonder what my day consisted of. Guess I'll find out.
