Chapter 2: the Queen of Spades

After a brief explanation to Penny's uncle, we got the first plane to Alaska, where I had a cottage we could stay in. After the plane landed, we rented a truck and I drove us there.

When we reached it, I climbed out and smelled the open air. The cottage was in the middle of a thick forest. If you were in a helicopter, flying over us, you wouldn't even see it.

There were two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room and a bathroom. It wasn't much, but not much was needed in cases like this. It was my grandfather's cottage. When he was still alive, he used to take me here on holiday when I was a kid. Before I started living with uncle Claw. Before all the chaos and madness started.

We used to take long walks through the forest. Once, I even spotted a deer fawn with it's mother doe. At night, the stars were so many that it was impossible to count them.

I snapped back into reality and started taking the bags from the trunk. The keys were exactly where my grandfather always left them. Under the doormat.

I locked the door open and carried the bags inside. "Home sweet home, I guess." I said, letting the two inside to see the place for themselves. "Hm. This is a nice place." The inspector commented. I quickly showed them the way around the cabin, and then excused myself to take a shower.

After washing up and putting on some fresh clothes, I sat down in front of my laptop and plugged in the memory stick that was given to me by a dying man. A bunch of files popped up.

There was a picture of a woman in her thirties. She was beautiful, but her eyes were filled with a lust for craziness and danger. A psychopath, you could say. Especially for the fact that she was in a straight jacket and she was staring at the camera with a crazed grin. (Imagine her as Lara Pulver.)

I read all the information that Johnson found on her.

Current status: Missing after breaking out of mental hospital

Warning: Because of a genetic birth defect in her brain where the saneness sector is missing, Elizabeth Anne Moran is a very dangerous psychopath, trying to create chaos wherever she goes, kills for pleasure and blows up buildings for humor. If found, take extreme caution and avoid at all times.

Yeah. Looks like she had a good laugh blowing up our agency. It took a second for my brain to process what I was seeing. I scrolled back to her family.

Doctor Claw. She was married to my uncle. She didn't blow us up for fun, no. She was seeking revenge. Revenge for her lover. Just after I finished up, I heard the truck pull into the driveway. I closed the laptop and made my way outside, greeted by the dim light of twilight.

Climbing out of the vehicle was Penny, with three pizzas boxes stacked in her arms. "Need any help?" I offered, and she shook her head in reply. "No need. Although, there's still some things in the back you could carry." She said, nodding her head to the truck.

I jogged towards the back, and saw all the needed essentials for a week in the cottage. Including all the equipment for roasted marshmallows. I love this girl.
