Darkest Dungeon is a lovecraftian RPG created by Red Hook Studios, set in an alternative 17th century. In the game, the player takes the role of "the heir", a faceless, nameless character burdened with the horrific task of returning to their ancestors long abandoned mansion, after rituals and experiments of an otherworldly nature have left it a horrifying and infested mess. The ancestor, finding himself unable to complete the work on his own, sends for you in a cryptic letter shortly before taking his own life.
This story tells the tale of the heir, thrust into a world of consequence, and the many heroes who accompany them on their journey.
