Extra Chapter: Aide Meets Kai

Start from the beginning

Finally, they both surfaced again and, after wrestling in the waters for a couple of minutes, they head back to the shore. Both laughing, they tumbled down on the ground and looked up at the night sky. It was a bit cloudy, but you could still spot the starts here and there, twinkling softly in the cool night.

"That was just the thing I needed," Kai stated, running a hand through his tousled black hair. "Nothing like a refreshing dip in the cold sea."

"Hopefully that was the last crazy thing we do tonight," He chuckled back, while writhing his breeches from the water. But suddenly, he felt Kai's hand touching his hair. He looked up and found him watching it with amazed eyes. "Uh, Kai? What do you think you're doing?"

"You have silver hair," He said, as if only just realizing that now. "They say that only the blessed ones get born with silver hair."

He wouldn't describe his destiny as a blessing. Nor what had happened in his past, to get to where he was today; Alone, and destined to be forever. His path was many things, but certainly not a blessing. "It's just an old myth."

"Oh sure, and I assume the dragon within you is just a myth, too," Kai scoffed, but smirked a little. "Can I see it again? You look so damn sexy when your eyes do that reptilian thing."

Tilting his head backwards with laughter, he grinned. "You're so weird, Kai, you know that?"

"Hey, I was born this way and I love it!" Kai proudly said, running a hand down his own body. "Now show me that dragon, dragon."

"You know it's not something I can put out there on command. It only  happens, when--"

"When you get really mad or turned on," Kai grinned. "I noticed. I'm not going to attempt making you mad, but I will however--"

"Kai..."

"Oh come on, you can't tell me you haven't thought about it?" He smirked, leaning in closer. "I'm a hot son of a bitch, you don't look too bad yourself."

"Don't tell me you're getting the hots for me," He chuckled, but immediately stopped when Kai didn't grin back. He was serious. He was starting to feel something for him. "Kai..."

"One kiss," Kai said, smirking a little. "One kiss, and then you can say you don't want me. But you don't know it, until you tried it."

He was seriously stunned, but Kai had a point; He had never kissed a boy before. Girls, yes, but never a guy. Maybe he should give it a go?

"I must be seriously drunk to be actually considering this," He mumbled, leaning closer to Kai.

A smirk broke out on his lips. "Or, you could just be totally digging me without knowing."

"Nope, I'm pretty sure it's the first one."

"Whatever, dragon boy," Kai smirked. "Lay one on me. Show me your magic skills."

And that's what he did. Without thinking too much about it, he leaned in towards Kai's lips and met them, pressing his own against his. Kai grabbed the back of his head and pulled him closer, immediately capturing his mouth in a heated kiss.

- He had already made up his mind; This was not for him. It wasn't that it was bad, it just felt really wrong. He was kissing his best friend, who actually just admitted to be having a crush on him. Knowing Kai's preferences, this had probably been a really bad idea. He was giving him false hopes

But he still kissed him back for another moment or two, just to make sure Kai didn't feel like he was rejecting him. He had a feeling Kai had been wanting to do this since they met yesterday, so why not let him enjoy it a little bit longer? He even let his tongue graze his lip, which drew a small groan from him. But that was it. No more - it didn't feel right teasing him. He pulled away from Kai, who seemed reluctant to let him go. "I'm sorry, Kai."

"I know, you don't have to tell me," He quietly answered. He kept his eyes closed, as if he didn't want to face him just yet. "I could feel it, this wasn't for you. Damn."

"Sorry," He whispered, placing a hand on his shoulder.

Slowly smiling, Kai finally opened his eyes and met his. "No, it's alright. I didn't think so either. But damn."

Grinning a little, he retracted from Kai and leaned back on his elbows. "Good God, we just kissed. Was that why you got me drunk?"

Laughing, Kai leaned back on his elbows too and stared up at the sky. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Mm-hm, sure."

"So I really did nothing for you?" Kai said, giving him a sideways glance. "No reptilian eyes, no nothing? That's hurtful. I thought the knight in shining armor was supposed to fall for the princess at their first kiss."

"I am no shining knight in armor and you are most certainly not a princess," He laughed. Kai joined in. "And no, I'm sorry. But it's nothing personal, I just don't work that way."

"Yeah, I know, you're all about the girls," Kai sighed, dipping his head back in defeat.

He silently considered if he should tell Kai that that wasn't what he had meant about "not working that way", but decided it wasn't the right time. Besides... He wasn't sure he could talk about it just yet. Showing him his dragon had been necessary, since he used magic to pull him off that cliff. He had to explain it somehow, but he never went into detail about why he was wandering about alone. Searching...

"So, my hero," Kai said after a moment of silence. "Have you thought about what I said earlier?"

Smiling a little, he looked up at the stars. "I have. And I think I'm going to accept your offer, if it still stands."

A grin stretched from ear to ear on Kai's face and with that, he said, "Welcome to the clan, Mahbrah."
