"I'll keep that in mind."
He stood up and took the notebook and tucked it inside his coat. Regina followed her sight at him.
"Going now, detective?" she asked. It was the moment Chris concentrated his focus on her. She has an irresistible charm. Short black hair that reaches only on her shoulders, violet lipstick, demure looking eyes but seductive, voluptuous figure and a burning sensation within her voice.
"I have to find my sister," he answered and cleared his throat when he felt that his voice was hoarse when he answered.
"Got a minute?"
He just looked at her and weighed what she meant. She sat down on her chair and signed him to sit down. She is about to offer a few chat and information. Chris followed. She reached a few newspaper articles and photographs from her drawer and showed it to him. A few news reports and photographs of young girls. He looked at her, signaling a question what those are.
"Jenna Anniston, Phoebe Crince and Angela Woodbrook. All my students from 2005 to 2008. Reported missing. Police investigated but the family surrendered when there was no progress on the investigation that may lead to their whereabouts."
"So you believe that there is a connection between my sister's disappearance with these incidents? I never heard these reports before."
Regina chuckled. She knows why. In cases like this, the police may have shut their memories about it and treat it as another road block case file.
"Do you honestly believe the police will tell the media that they failed in searching for the three young girls? Do you think Missing Persons Department would love the whole people of Patterson City know that they failed their job?" she replied, with a tone of anger. She had the tone of someone who wants to make the people responsible pay for what they've done.
"I just can't believe that our boss would allow this. Superintendent Hearst isn't the kind of person who wouldn't want this hidden."
"That is something you should ask him. But that is not the gist why I wanted you to stay."
Chris got curious of what she meant. So everything she showed him was just the slip talk.
"Then what is?"
"Do you believe in a higher being, detective? A God. Do you believe in the devil as well? Satan." she asked. Was she just joking? Sarcastic? Chris was weighing this but it seems the woman is interested in his answer.
"Does it matter?"
"Just answer my question."
"You're a persistent lady, aren't you? I believe in a God that shines justice. If a devil exists, it shall be exterminated at any cost."
Regina stood up and opened the small locker located in the back of the office. The locker contained a few folders, old files that gathered a few dust from its time of storage. She took a folder from the left, opened it and confirmed if it was the one she wanted to show him. She smiled and handed him the file.
"Mysterious Disappearances. Spirited Away. That is what the people in this city once called the incidents. No one knows where they went, or where they were taken. Just them and the deep mystery of their vanishing act. Just like magic."
"Do you seriously believe in this?" Chris scoffed the idea. Being a detective as he is, they base their inferences in anything logical and scientific. It would be a laughing matter if a policeman actually believes that a ghost or anything like the devil himself, abduct young girls, especially in Patterson City.
She smiled and glanced at the window. She loved the chrysalism of the hour, while looking at the mizzle, and the drops that drenched the window.
"There is only one way to know which side is the truth, detective. I trust you know what that means." she replied. Chris stood up, excused himself and left her alone in the office. Chris needs to find out who is behind this, and what really happened to his sister. He does not believe that this 'Spirited Away' reason is the main thing that's happened to her.
