Prologue - Stupid Cupid

They are at it again. I honestly don’t know what’s happening. One second they’re fine, then next they’re practically ready to bomb each others faces off. They have been yelling for the past hour just because my dad didn’t drop off my little niece and nephew to their ballet and football practice. Resulting into me having to drop them while I was out for lunch during school time. I honestly didn’t have a problem with it, but apparently my parents do. I could hear every word they were saying. They don’t think that I do though. But I do and it’s just so annoying. This isn’t even the first time. They have been arguing a lot recently, I’ve even quietly noticed that they don’t even sleep in the same bed anymore. My dad always goes off right after fights and comes back very early in the morning, trying not to wake everyone up he goes into his and my mother’s bedroom.

Deciding that I didn’t want to hear anymore yelling, I decided to close my bedroom door and go back to studying. My room had been so quiet except for the tapping of my pencil, and that started to creep me out a bit. So when my phone rang, I practically jumped, shocked. I searched my pockets and my desk for my phone, but having realized that it was lying on my bed across the room I groaned and stood up. Yup, I definitely am not the most active person. I didn’t even bother looking at the contact when I picked up the call.

“Hello?”

“Hello? Who is this?” Who the hell would be calling at the hour of 7? Aren’t there parties and shit like those stuff people my age had on a Friday night?

“Sometimes Faith, I worry about you. I call you practically everyday and you still don’t know who I am?” Harper’s voice sounded through my techno device.

“Well, sorry. I didn’t even read the contact before I answered. Anyways, what’s up?” I asked, curious to why she was calling me. Didn’t she know that this was practically my study time?

“I wanted to know if you wanted to catch a movie with me. Now, before you protest I know that it’s your study time, but you’ve got to get your head out of those books and live a little my dear Faith.” On the other line, I could already hear the engine of a car roar. Had she started her car?

“I’m not even going to let you answer. Just get ready, I’ll be over in 20.” Harper said and quickly hung up, not even giving me the chance to argue.

I sighed and got my lazy arse off the bed and went into my huge closet. You could say that my family was well...well-off? Both my parents are lawyers, my dad apparently owns a huge law firm that practically leaves us to have the material things that we desire. Me and my older brother are quite the opposite from our parents. We both thought that material things don’t matter as long as it’s the thought that counts. It’s cheesy, trust me, we both know. But hey, that’s how things go between us. As long as you love us and we love you, we don’t give a flying fudge about the material things you get us.

“Faith? Faith you in here?” A deep voice called out from inside my room. I immediately recognized the voice as my brother’s.

“I’m in here.” I called out to him from in my closet.

I went back to looking through the numerous clothes that I had bought, my parents had bought, or were gifts. I’m not even going to lie, it’s a lot. I honestly didn’t care what I’d wear, I’m not that kind of girl where I take forever to choose an outfit. It’s not like I have anyone to impress and all. Seriously, guys don’t even know I exist.

“Going on a date?” Turning my head, I saw my older brother Matt leaning against the doorframe  of my closet eating an apple.

I scoffed and turned away, “No.”
