I can cry and weep and wallow
I can sob and sob and sob
But no matter how much I cry
The pain, too stubborn, won't go away
I can cry because of the heartbreak
The snarky comments or the nasty treatment
It still doesn't matter
Because the pain, so incurable, will never go away
There's no ignoring the pain
It's always prodding and poking
It wants to be seen, to be heard
To be noticed
And once it is
The crying starts
But crying never, ever takes the pain away
It never did
