Kai and Thorne had made it to their friends' houses in time to get to the school just as the doors opened. They all strode inside wearing black suits and ties. Wolf and Jacin had to press down on their ears once they got inside. Wolf had excellent hearing, and loud, abrupt noises aggravated him. Jacin got migraines that drove him insane until he got used to the noise level. "Ugh. I can hardly stand. I need to grab a seat." Jacin squeezed past the dozens of teens to get to the chairs lining the entire gym.

A sudden growl erupted, causing Thorne and Kai to turn to its probable source. AKA, Wolf.

"I'm starving," Wolf complained. "Where are those food tables?"

"Didn't you eat before we left?" Thorne teased.

"I don't remember. But that doesn't help my stomach." He lifted his head and turned to the left. He began to make his way in that direction. Wolf's real name was Ze'ev, but his keen senses of smell and hearing, with some assistance from his teeth, got him the canine nickname.

The music ended and the DJ's voice came on the speakers. "Our next tune will be from the popular rock band, Hollywood Undead," his voice was cut off momentarily. "..... which will begin in a few moments, due to technical difficulties."

"Aw man, I love that band!" shouted Thorne. "I'll see you in a bit dude. Got to go impress the ladies." He put a little too much emphasis on the last sentence and it made Kai feel put off.

Now he was in the middle of a gigantic room, alone, looking like an idiot. He scooted out of the way so he wouldn't cause a traffic jam. He knew that if he stayed out of sight, Levana wouldn't pester him too much. He looked over his shoulder to his right and saw a pretty girl in a bright red dress. As she turned a bit more towards him, he started to recognize her.

It was Cinder. And she looked stunning.

He wanted to walk over to her to say HI, but another girl was coming his way. It was Levana, followed by her "best friend", Sybil. Oh how he despised the both of them. Guess my talk with Cinder will have to wait. He turned around and headed for the edges of the room. It would be harder for them to follow him that way. "KAI!" Levana bellowed. He started to run to get out of her sight. In the process, he knocked over a guy that was dancing with some girl. But he didn't look back to apologize.

He'd gone around the entire gym at least three times before he lost them. He forced himself to sit down and catch his breath. His eyes traveled around the room to find Cinder. After he refill his lungs, he stood up to get a better view. Within moments he found her again, but she was darting around the room just as he was only a minute ago. He tried to see what she was running from. Of course, it was Levana.

She fell and her shoe flew off her foot. Levana was closing in when a voice in his head emerged. No! This has gone on long enough for her! He stormed over to where Levana was shrieking at poor Cinder and stepped between them.

(Change of perspective)

Cinder was lying helplessly on the ground as Levana verbally abused her. "You freak! Why did you even come here anyway?!" she screamed. "No one likes you, you worthless piece of crap!" Cinder wanted to just shrink into non existence. She couldn't cry thanks to Levana, but she felt the ache in her heart none the less.

Out of nowhere, a guy stomped out of the crowd and places himself between her and Levana. Levana's face relaxes as she yelled, "There you are. I've been looking all over for you."

"This has gone on long enough, Levana! Leave Cinder alone!" the guy separating them howled. Levana's face turned the shade of Cinder's dress. She was about to speak, but turned around and headed for the exit in rage. He bent down and grabbed the shoe that slipped off when Cinder stumbled. He turned to face her. It was Kai.
