"So," Hiro says, meeting you by the doors of the building after class, "what'd you think?"

You sigh happily, "Well-" As soon as the door opens, you gasp in excitement. "It's snowing again!"

Hiro looks out, and sure enough, it is. You grin and run out the door, weaving your way through everyone. "Hey, wait!" he calls, moving forward to follow you. He stops when he sees you standing in the middle of the sidewalk, your arms spread like wings, your face towards the sky. "What are you doing?"

"Tasting the snow," you say, holding your tongue out. "Try it!"

"No, thanks," he says nervously. He elbows you gently. "Can you knock it off?"

"Can you learn to have a little fun?" You drop your arms to your sides and look down in disappointment.

Hiro opens his mouth to reply. "Hiro, Hiro!" Honey Lemon shouts. Hiro turns his head and waves at his friends who are all around the frozen fountain.

"Hey, ___," Hiro says, "can I introduce you to my friends?"

"Sure," you say with a shrug.

Hiro smiles and leads you to his friends, "Hey, guys. This is ___," he introduces. "I'm showing her around school today."

"Hi, ___," Honey says, "It's great to meet you! You can call me Honey Lemon. And this is Go Go, Fred, and Wasabi."

"It's nice to meet you all," you say.

"How old are you?" Fred asks, "You look a little young."

"I'm sixteen," you answer.

"You're just about Hiro's age!" Honey Lemon claps.

Fred, while everyone is chatting, bends down and scoops up a pile of snow. He forms it into a ball and then throws it as hard as he can at Hiro. Hiro jumps in surprise as it crashes against his head. "Ha! Gotcha!"

You giggle and nudge Hiro. "You're just gonna take that, Hiro?"

Hiro waves his hand dismissively. "I'm not in the mood to fight."

"Aw, come on," Fred whines.

You bend down and scoop up a couple handfuls of snow. "It's okay, I'll fight for you!" You toss them quickly, getting Fred once in the shoulder and once in the side.

"Oh, it's on!" He grabs more ammo and takes cover behind the fountain. You turn, hook your arm with Go Go, and drag her with you. "Girls against boys!"

Honey Lemon giggles and pushes up her glasses, "Okay!" Even Go Go cracks a smile as she picks up her own clumps of snow. Wasabi is into it, too, forming the spheres of ice as quickly as he can.

Hiro slowly backs away from his cheerful friends. He reaches behind his head and yanks his hoodie up to block the noise out. He spots a bench just down the sidewalk and takes a seat. He shivers and pulls his hoodie tighter around him. No matter how hard he tries, his spirits stay down. Winter just isn't fun anymore. Tadashi would be urging him to have fun.

"Hey, bonehead, I'm gone, not you. Go have fun."

"I can't," Hiro whispers, his eyes shutting.

"You can't what?" you ask, plopping down beside him.

"Nothing," Hiro says with a shiver.

You notice his trembling figure and lean forward, "Hey, are you cold?" He gives you a shrug. You begin to unravel the scarf wound around your neck.

"I don't need-"

"Take it," you insist, handing it to him. "Red isn't that girly of a color."

"Thanks," he says with a smile as he wraps it around his neck.

"Oh. Your friends invited me to lunch with you all. You're okay with that, right?" You look down at your hands and nervously fiddle with the ribbons that are artfully seen onto your black gloves.

"Of course I'm okay with it," he answers, "Why wouldn't I be?"

"I don't know, I seem to get on your nerves, I think." You shrug.

"No, you don't," he assures you. "I'm sorry if I'm coming off as rude and everything, just. . . I'm having a hard time right now, and honestly everything is just. . . you know." He frowns.

"It's your brother, isn't it?" you ask quietly, the concern clearly laced through your voice.

Hiro looks down at his feet and kicks the snow. He opens his mouth to speak, then shuts it. Why is he even opening up to you? He just met you. He forces shut down on all of is feelings. Letting out a deep breath, he opens it again. "We should probably get to class."

You nod in agreement and shoot up and out of your seat. "Right."

He stands up and shoves his hands into his hoodie pockets once again. His hot breath his the warm covering of your scarf, offering his own personal heater. You walk closely beside him on the way towards the next building. All the while, Hiro wonders if the scent on your scarf is the same of your hair. Are you just a winter kind of person? So into winter, in fact, that your clothes smell like vanilla and peppermint? He catches a sideways glance at you as you lean your head up and catch a snowflake on the tip of your nose. Your lips curl up into a beautiful smile, and Hiro finds himself staring again. You are like a walking winter, either here to torture him with unwanted memories or bless him with these memories that he misses so much, he's unsure, but as he inhales the scent of your scarf, he's not sure of what to exactly think.
