Her face broke out into a bigger smile.

"Oh.. Really?" She said.

He nodded, not saying a word.

"And you'll be at his house? Are his parents going to be home?" She asked him.

"Yes. He said they've been wanting to meet me for awhile." Dan said while blushing.

"Of course you can go!" She said.

"Thanks, mum." He said smiling.

"Phil's such a nice boy. He's a keeper!" She told him. He blushed even harder.

"Mum!" He shouted at her, his face still ruby red.

"Oh alright!" She said.

"Thank you!" He said exasperated.

"Go on back to bed, honey. You're father will be home soon." She said.

"Thanks, mum." He said. And he walked back upstairs. His face, still, full of embarrassment.

Once finally upstairs, he checked his phone.

3 missed calls from Philly.

"Oops." He said quietly to himself. He slid his finger over the notification to unlock his phone. He typed in his passcode and quickly went to his phone app.

He quickly went to Phil's contact and selected it.

He waited for it to start ringing. He felt some anxiety towards what was happening.

3 calls in a row doesn't sound good, he thought to himself.

Ring...

Ring...

Ring...

"Danny?" He answered quickly, he sounded worried.

"Phil? Are you okay?" He said.

"Yea-no. I just. Nothing." He sounded off.

"Phil?" Dan repeated his name, once more.

He heard nothing but breathing on the other end from Phil. Dan began to get flustered. He wasn't sure what was going on.

"I'm-I'm okay." He said stuttering.

And then there was silence. From both ends of the line.

"I have to go. Talk to you t-tomorrow?" He said suddenly.

"Of course, Phil." Dan said as comforting as he could.

"B-bye." He managed to get out. Then the line was finally dead.

"What the hell...?" Dan muttered to himself.

He shrugged it off as best he could. He eventually fell back asleep, in his overheated cocoon of blankets.
