A week later...

"Maine! Hey, wait for me." A lady shouted from behind. The girl, whose name is Maine, rolled her eyes at her pathetic friend but she did slow down. Maine waited for her friend to catch up with her before speaking.

"You know, Valeen, kung naghihinay hinay ka lang sa pagsusuot ng 5-inch heels then you would not be running after me every single day." Maine said with a disapproving look on her face.

"Luhluhluh. Beastmode agad?" Valeen said with a teasing look on her face. "It's still early and besides it's been a week. Don't tell me you still haven't moved on from you-know-who." Maine glared at her as they went in the elevator.

"Trust me, I've definitely moved on from that jerk. And we're not talking about me. We are talking about you and your obsession with high heels." The elevator pinged signaling that they have arrived to their floor. The two girls are working for a renowned fashion magazine in the Philippines. Maine, at the age of 25, handles the editorial team making her the youngest employee in a considerably high position.

"By the way, I should remind you about your meeting with the president at 11:30." Valeen, Maine's trusted PA, prompted.

"What does my tito want now?" Maine muttered to herself. Yes, her uncle is the president of the company but it is not the reason why she is in a higher position than those who worked longer than her in the company. Many people thought that Maine got her job because of her relation with the owner. The truth is, she went through the same treatment and interview like those who applied for that job. It so happens that she has a certain eye, a good one, for fashion. Maine also know what the people want and what interest them. So in spite of what others are thinking, she landed the job because she got what it takes.

Maine is not oblivious to the fact that many people are still talking behind her back saying that she did not deserve the job after all that she's done for the company. But she could only care less coz she knows that she can't please anyone and for her, the only one worth pleasing is her uncle who trusted her for the role of being the editor.

"Good morning lovely ladies." Jerald, the picture editor, greeted them with a bright smile. Maine walked right past him leaving the Jerald confused. "Hoy Val, ano nangyare kay madam?" The term 'madam' is what he uses in a daily basis whether to show respect or just to tease Maine. The three of them have been working together for three years and that makes them good friends. Even if Maine is in a higher position than them, she treats the two like an equal, keeping in mind that without them, she would be nowhere.

"Pagpasensyahan mo na, Je. Masama ata gising." Valeen replied and they both watched Maine enter her office with heavy footsteps.

"Baka dahil kay..." Jerald was not able to finish what he's saying hit him on his head. "Ay grabe siya. Di naman tayo maririnig ni Meng. Ano siya superhuman?" The two walked towards their respective places and sat on their desks that are just a few feet apart from each other.

"Maine said she has moved on from him." Valeen continued.

"I know girls. Sinasabi niyo lang yan na nakamove on na kayo pero ang totoo hindi pa. Dapat alam mo din yan kasi babae ka. O baka naman tama ako na dati ka talagang lalake?" Valeen glared at Jerald before throwing a pencil at him. "Aray! Kanina ka pa Val ah. Di porket maganda ka di kita papatulan." Jerald joked.

The two only stopped teasing when the phone on Valeen's desk rang. She answered it on the second ring and was only on the phone for a few seconds.

"Da who?" Jerald asked.

"Si big boss pinapatawag na si Meng." Valeen stood up and walked to Maine's office. After knocking, she poked her head in and saw Maine reading their current magazine issue. "Maine."

"Yes?" Maine asked without taking her eyes off of what she's reading.

"The boss is already looking for you. He said he needs you to come to his office now." That's when Maine diverted her attention from the magazine to Valeen. She looked at her with a questioning look.

"I thought our meeting was supposed to be at 11:30? It's just what? 10 o'clock."

"Yan yung sinabi ko sa kanya. But he insisted that you really need to come now." Maine muttered something to herself before standing up.

"Answer the calls for me if there's any, okay." She said to Valeen before half-walking, half-running to her uncle's office. Maine arrived in no time and when she opened the door, she saw someone sitting opposite her uncle.

"You wanted to see me?" Maine started.

"Ah yes." Her uncle smiled at her. "I'd like to introduce you to someone. Maine this is..." The man with his back on Maine turned around, facing her. Maine's eyes immediately widened from the sight.

"You?!"
