As much as Seulgi hates to admit it, she wish Irene was here right now. The girl had to go to office hours to ask her professor for help so it's just Seulgi and Wendy having lunch together right now. The whole time, the two were just having a staring contest with their food, only looking up occasionally to smile awkwardly at each other, both feeling the importance of Irene's presence now.
"So," Wendy starts, "how long have you known Irene for?"
"Uhm, for about 5 years. She and I were neighbors when she moved to Seoul."
"She's not from Seoul??" Wendy asked in surprised.
Seulgi was caught off guard by Wendy's response. So Irene didn't tell Wendy about that. She felt a sudden sense of relief wash over her, knowing that there are things Wendy doesn't know about Irene. She felt a bit mean to feel that way, but was still happy nonetheless.
"Yeah, she's a Daegu native. You should hear her satoori, it's gold," Seulgi revealed.
"Hmm my curiosity is peaked now," Wendy said, and the two of them shared a giggle. "You know, I find it kind of weird that we're the same year and have the same major, yet we only have one class together," she continued.
"Yeah, I don't think I ever got a chance to talk to you much. That cabbage always talks the most, so I just end up listening."
Wendy raised her eyebrows again at the comment, and Seulgi is starting to think that those eyebrows of hers have a life of their own.
"Cabbage?" Wendy asked. And once again, that prideful feeling of being the person that knows Irene best resurfaced in Seulgi.
"That's Irene's nickname."
"Uhhh why?"
"What's her Korean name?"
"Bae Joohy-," Wendy stopped mid-sentence and her mouth formed an O at the realization. "Ohhh, hahaha so childish!"
"Well, it's only fitting for someone who acts like a child," Seulgi said. And right at that moment, Irene walked into the cafeteria. Both Wendy and Seulgi looks at her before Seulgi continued, "And is short like one too."
And that did it. Both girls doubled in laughter, earning a questioning look from Irene as she approaches them.
"What's so funny? I want to laugh too!" Irene said before sliding into the booth, next to Wendy. Seulgi frowned a bit at the action, but was more surprised when she caught what looked to be a blush stemming from Wendy's cheeks.
"Nothing. It's not funny anymore because you're here," Seulgi stated.
"Wow, I'm very happy to see you too, Seul." Irene gave Seulgi a pout then turned to greet Wendy, "Hi Wendy!" she waved enthusiastically.
"Hi, how was office hours? Did it help you in any way?" Wendy asked.
"Professor Old Fart didn't even answer my questions and just kept telling me to read the book. Like, does it look like I paid tuition to learn from the book? Ugh so useless!" Irene ranted.
Seulgi found it quite peculiar how Wendy laughs at everything Irene says. She just rolls her eyes at the rant, but the other girl is straight up laughing for some reason.
"Did you actually call him Professor Old Fart?" Wendy giggled.
"I wish I could, but nah, my grade is still very dependent on him. Anyways, when are you guys free to go watch Pitch Perfect 2? It won't be in theater for long, we should go soon."

"I'm free after 5 every day," Wendy said.
"I'm done by 4 on Friday," Seulgi replied.
"Okay, do you guys want to go at 7 on Friday then?"
"Yep, sounds good!"
Seulgi only gave a thumbs up without saying anything.
---
Irene likes to be punctual so she showed up at exactly 7:00 and was surprised to see that Wendy was already there.
"Hi Wendy! Well you're here early," Irene greeted.
"Hey, and you're exactly on the dot," Wendy waved back.
"Yeah, I'm usually first one to arrive, but you beat me to it today. Did you wait long?"
"Not really, I was only here 15 minutes ago."
"That's good," Irene said and began fanning herself with her hand.
"Did you run here or something? Do you need water?"
"What? Nah, I'm standing next to hot stuff so I'm sweating right now," Irene winked, "But in all seriousness, you look very nice today," she reaffirmed. And if Wendy got any redder, she'd put a tomato to shame.
Not like she could tell Irene that she made the effort and spent 2 hours choosing this white one piece to impress the girl. Nope, no way in hell would she say that.
"T-thanks, you look good yourself," Wendy said as she eye Irene from head to toe. Plain white V-neck tucked in a little on the side and black skinny jeans with a pair of white converse. Simple, but not any less beautiful.
Wendy looked up, expecting Irene to smile at her compliment, but nope, something behind her made the older girl smile instead. She turned around and saw Seulgi dusting her knees while mumbling something towards the ground.
Irene walked towards the newcomer and reached out to hold her chin, much to the surprise of Seulgi and Wendy. "Did it hurt?" she asked.
"I swear, if you say 'when you fell from heaven' I'm going to punch you," Seulgi cut her off.
"No, when you tripped over your own feet just now," Irene said as she release her grip on Seulgi's chin to hit the girl's head. "You thought I didn't see you trip? Haha, dumb bear," she teased. Seulgi let out a scowl while Wendy could only laugh at Irene's antics.
"We should head in now, the movie's about to start," Wendy announced.
---
As much as Wendy loves Anna Kendrick, she can't seem to focus on the movie when Irene's fingers are playing with hers. Wendy didn't think much of it when she put her hand on the armrest, because you know, it's where you rest your arm. But apparently Irene wanted the same one, so her solution was to put her arm on top of Wendy's and play with the latter's fingers. Poor girl was so distracted by the action, she'd probably have to go watch the movie again a second time to understand what it's about.
She sure was wrong to think that she could concentrate on the movie better if Irene let go of her hand. Because when the older girl finally lets go and started eating popcorn, Wendy was now focused on how to get Irene to hold her hand again without making it too obvious. Her plan came to a sudden halt when another thought hit her. Why was Irene playing with her hand? Did that mean anything? Because she was sure as hell that people don't just go around and intertwine their hand with their friend's.
But then she looks to her left and her expression ranged somewhere from confused to jealous. Irene was leaning her head on Seulgi's shoulder like she's done it a million times before, and Seulgi didn't even seem affected by it at all. But more than being jealous, Wendy was disappointed that the gesture earlier might not have meant anything to Irene, and that the girl was just naturally touchy.
---
"That was awesome!!" Irene exclaim as they walk out of the theater.
"We know, you've said that at least 6 times already," Seulgi stated.
"Well it's because it's true. Have I mentioned that it's.... awesome!"
"Seven and counting..." Wendy joined in. Irene let out a gasp while looking at Wendy.
"How could you join the devil and mock me?!"
"Oh please, stop being so overdramatic and let's go eat now, I'm hungry."
"Such a buzzkill, ugh," Irene dramatically rolled her eyes, earning a giggle from Wendy. "Anyways, where do you guys want to eat? I'm fine with anything that's not chicken."
"Hmm jjambbong sounds good right now," Seulgi suggested. Before Wendy could open her mouth to protest, Irene spoke up.
"Nope, no jjambbong. Wendy can't eat spicy food." Wendy and Seulgi stares at her in surprise, but both for different reasons. While Wendy was surprised that Irene remembered when she only mentioned it once very casually, Seulgi was surprised that Irene was so fast to speak up for Wendy.
"What? Why are you to staring at me like that? Am I wrong, Wendy?"
"N-no, you're right. Sorry Seulgi, I can't handle spicy food well," Wendy managed to say after recomposing herself.
"Not a problem at all! We'll just go eat fried chicken then," Seulgi said, not forgetting to direct the last part at Irene.
"Hey! That's mean!" Irene pouted and Wendy laughed.
"Well, if you guys don't mind, we can go to my place and I can make pasta or something for us," Wendy said.
"Ooh, I love that idea. Seul, did I mention that Wendy is also a great cook, not just a baker? Anyways, let's hurry now. I can't wait to see Oreo!"
"Who's Oreo?"
"Wendy's dog. He's the cutest corgi you'll ever see," Irene answered before linking arms with Wendy. Seulgi had no idea that Irene had visited Wendy's house before. Well, not like Irene has to report all her daily activities to her or anything, but she thought the girl would've mentioned it to her.
And for the first time, it's Seulgi who's looking at Irene's back as she happily skip farther away.
