"What would you tell them, Vie?" Mr. Thompson asked, looking at her curiously.
"I'd tell them about The Sinister, and Utopian Societies Project," she replied. Mr. Thompson turned towards the whiteboard and started writing something, his back blocking my view. Vie smiled, proud of herself, and I gave her a quick thumbs up. It's hard to believe she was nervous about her essay just moments before.
Mr. Thompson stepped back so we could see what he had written. In big letters, The Sinister was written in blue ink.
"Who can tell me what The Sinister was?" Mr. Thompson barely gets the question out before everyone is raising their hand. The Sinister is a sensitive subject, so no one talks about it very often. Whenever we do get the chance to talk about it, though, everyone is eager to add to the discussion.
