Toni Romiti,
It's been a few days. Me and August are in Detroit for Eric's funeral. I couldn't talk at all as if I was a mute. I had this serious look on my face and my dark sunglasses. August had the same as me. We walked together from the car to the church, we walked it and we saw Eric's family. " Oh Toni! " Eric's mother semi-yelled getting my attention. I smiled and gave her a hug " Hey Mama Scott. How are you? " I asked. She sighed and looked at me and smiled, " I'm doing well baby. " she looked up at August and smiled and put her hand out, " You must be August. Toni told me about you before you guys arrived. " August smiled and gave her a firm hand shake, " Yes ma'am. Toni has talked about me? " August asked. She nodded her head while responding, " Oh yes, she talked about all her new town, her new home and friend to me. We are very close. " she continued as she lead us inside the church. Eric's mom has been through a lot since she was young so she was always the type to be strong, she inspires me. " Toni? " I heard someone say causing me to turn around. " Hey Darren. " I said as he pulled me into a tight hug. He hugged me back tightly, lifting me off the ground a little. " How have you been? " he asked placing me back on my feet. I nodded my head looking up at him, " I'm good. Meet my friend, August. " August gave Darren dap, " I'm Darren, Eric's Brother. " Darren said introducing himself to August. " Nice to meet you mane. " August responded. " How long you gonna be in town Toni? " Darren asked me making eye contact with me, I looked up at him and responded " Just for a couple of days. " We walked to the front of the church to sit in the pew front in center of the pastor. The order was Mama Scott, Darren, Me and than August. I was looking at my hands reminiscing on the good times me and Eric had together during the last year and six months.. finding out the most disbelief news to the most heartbreaking news of my life. My thought we interrupted after I heard the service was about to begin, I looked up at the pastor with my shades still covering my eyes making full eye contact.
August Alsina,
It was a small service. It was a couple of hours. It was nice. We stood watching them lower his casket in the ground while there were individual white roses all over the casket. Mama Scott was standing strong letting a few tears fall as Toni had her eyes hidden by her dark sunglasses. But I knew that she was crying because at the end of the day that was her man who she cared for and loved and that's completely understandable. After a while, everyone left including me and Toni to go to the hotel. It was too quiet in the car until we go to the hotel, we walked in silence to the room. I slide the key card in the door opening it letting Toni in first as I follow behind. Toni sat on the bed and took off her glasses and looked up at me exposing her puffy and red eyes and tear stains on her cheeks. " You good ma. " I asked her as she shook her head putting her head down and her hands on your face having a break down. I sat next to her wrapping my arms around her tightly as she softly cried into the palm of her hands. I whispered to her and told her, " it's okay not I be okay ma. "
