CHAPTER 07 - Connection

"No, I'll go with you."

"Stay here... Finish the movie for me." I replied sternly in a smile. "My stomach really hurts and..." Hissing sounds outside makes me falter. "...I don't want to drag you to the restroom just to wait for me."

"O-okay. I got it. B-but try to be back soon." she responded with a smile. I can sense her worried, but I really need to distance myself now.

"Of course. It's not like I'm running away from you." I smiled and pinched her cheeks casually.

"Ara~ that one just now was sweet." I just keep my smile on. "Finally comfortable with me huh?" she giggled. "Now go. I'll wait here."

"Thanks."

I stood up and walk carefully through the cinema's door, glanced back a little to check if her eyes are following me and answered my curiosity, she is. As soon as my foot was outside of the door, I dashed outside the place all the way out of the building. I ran as fast as I could, with my right hand pulling out a lace from my pocket to tie my hair up. People's eyes are on me; maybe I am running too fast for a human, I need to at least slow down. Then a gruesome sight is slowly approaching to me, I have entered the barrier.

"Oho... The black winged angel has arrived! I knew you were close..." a winged creature spoke under his own hissing as its eyes set on me. "I thought you'll make me wait."

"What do you want?" I asked the weird creature in front of me. Aside from his skinny human form, it has the wings of a bat and really long hard nails that touches the ground. Its chest was covered with layers of hair, and his eyeballs were pure black.

"You of course!" He flapped his wings creating a blast of wind that is enough to throw me off the ground. "You and that master of yours!!!!"

Yuuchan? What has she got to do with this? Why are they targeting her as well? "I'm not with my master." I replied calmly as I draw a sword from nowhere.

"Your words make no sense Keeper. I can clearly smell the whereabouts of both of you." He grinned. He's telling the truth. Damn it! And I left Yuuchan alone in there. I need to-

"And don't think that I come alone." He laughed evil.

What? Shoot! Don't tell me... Sheesh!! Yuuchan.

My heart wanted to rush back to where she is. I can feel the sweat on my forehead starts to get heavy. I gritted my teeth as I tightened the grip on my sword. If something happens to her, I don't care if I'd get burned in hell for tearing you to pieces..

She sensed another creature's presence moving slowly away from where she was, nearing to where her master is. Her heart trembles with fear and anger, confusion and questions. A blow of wind attacked the winged creature as she swayed her sword towards its direction, and her dashing along with it ready to strike the blade to the enemy's heart

"Not so fast, Keeper!" the enemy grinned as it successfully blocked the tall girl's sword with its own wings.

The guardian stepped back quickly and sighed. "I need to be careful. He isn't an ordinary demon." She straighten her stance, closed her eyes and placed her left arm on her sides, holding the sword close to her, blade pointing down to the ground and murmured word only fellow guardians would understand. She reopened her eyes and glared at the demon.

"You're finally serious!" the demon laughed. "Of course, you need to rush back to your beloved master." it raises its hand and those long nails became its sword. "Now let's begin..."

Haruna dashed toward the enemy and swung her sword, creating clanging sounds as it made contact to the enemy's nails. It turned into a high level of sword fight in the ground and into the air. The guardian's tied hair beautifully dancing with the rhythm of the wind as her midnight-colored wings carries her above the ground, swiftly swinging away from the blades of the enemy.

"Damn it... I don't have much time. Yuuchan's in trouble..." Her patience grew small, making her swing her sword largely, creating an opening for the enemy to attack her. She felt the nails tore the sleeve of her dress off. "Tsk! This is bad!" She lowered her body and dashed toward the enemy with her sword's blade pointing forward towards the enemy. Her eyes flamed red and focused on the heart that she's been aiming since the beginning of the fight. With both of them dashing to each other with great speed, her lips started to murmur unknown words again that in effect made her wings disappear off the demon's eyes. Her legs touched the ground and sprints courageously against the approaching creature.

"Human form? ARE YOU LOOKING DOWN ON ME?!!!" It raged and dashed faster.

Feeling the speed between them changed in greater length, Haruna halts, planted her feet firmly on the ground, and cringe her eyes against the big gust of wind coming towards her. She raised her sword with both of her hands pointing forward, and tightened her grip to it.

In the blink of an eye, her sword was firmly stabbed on the creatures chest, nails grazed Haruna's cheeks along with the lace that used to tie her hair.

"Speak." the tall girl whispered at the creature within her sword. "What has she got to do with this?!"

The one interrogated coughs blood staining the girl's dress. He is grinning madly like he was not dying yet and staring contentedly on the guardian's orbs. "You're smart." It hemmed more blood. "You can figure... It... Out."

"What?!" Haruna' s heart skipped a beat as her head starts to get clouded with thoughts.

The demon's body started to turn into ashes, and was carried away by the wind leaving Haruna standing with only the sword in her hand. A sign of confusion can be seen on her bangs covered knotted forehead as she brings her body to stand straight. The sword disappeared into thin air.

"Ah!" She shook her and started running back with a heavy heart to the building she left just a while ago. She gritted her teeth again and run harder, hoping to get there in time. "Please... Please... Please be safe..."

As soon as she got out of the barrier, her breathing got heavier and her knees started to feel weak.

"Argh..." she struggled to continue running. "Screw this!" Her eyes started to water but she kept it from falling, feeling all the need to get back to her master as soon as possible. It wasn't that far away from where she is now but with all the tiredness she's feeling, she feels like it was still a thousand meter away."C'mon! C'mon!" she encourages herself. She kept on running as fast as she could, as fast as her legs can. "Please... Please... Please be safe..."

The tired girl can soon be seen looking inside the theatre, against the flow of crowd that is happily complimenting the greatness of the story. The movie has just finished. Her teary eyes scan the whole place, not minding the heavy thumping of her chest due to exhaustion from running. "Yuko~" she called faintly. "Yuko where are you?"

It was as if her heart was heated up that it started pumping more blood throughout her body. "Yukooo~~". Then there comes almost imperceptible hiccups from her lips. "...damn it.." She can't help it, her eyes can't hold the tears back anymore. "Yuuchan... Yuuchan... Where are you?" Her clenched fingers start to tighten along with her now shivering shoulders. "Yukooo!!!"
