"Well, that was fun," I muttered, tossing the book onto the edge of my bed. I sighed and rubbed my forehead, hating the fact that I had a headache from reading that book. The was basically nothing in that stupid book that seemed to help me.

Sure, I had taken some notes, but it was about this guy and then a female named Pearl. The gist was of the whole book was that Pearl chose the man that she was betrothed to and not her "mate". This led the male to get really pissed at her and started a killing spree.

Pearl had to kill her "mate" to stop him, though something had happened, and he became immortal. He couldn't be found nor could he be killed by any supernatural creature. There was this legend that a Shandhi could kill him, but the Shandhi hadn't been born during that time.

However, there was this picture, and for some odd reason, it looked like me. I didn't know what it meant, but it definitely looked like me. Though I was slightly dirtier, and the hair was shorter than I had it now.

I sighed and went over the papers, wondering if there was something that I had been missing. Sadly, I wasn't able to find a thing that I didn't really need to know about. "Well, that sucks," I muttered, plopping down on the bed, bouncing slightly.

"Jaz?" someone asked, knocking on the door. "Can I come in."

"Uhhhhh," I said, sitting up quickly. I grabbed the papers and the book before stuffing them underneath my pillow before plopping back down again. "Ya sure," I said, wincing when I heard a crinkling sound of paper.

The door opened and an amused looking Kate opened the door. "Still trying to hide the fact that you can draw?" she teased, hearing the crinkle of paper.

I shrugged my shoulder before sitting up, putting a mask over my emotions. "Well, can you blame me?" I asked, lying straight through my teeth. I kept my heart beat steady, knowing that she would be able to pick up on me lying to her. "I mean, you are the only one that knows about it."

Kate shook her head before jumping onto my bed. She landed face first, and I wasn't sure how clean smelling my covers were. "Let's go to The Bar," she said, her voice muffled. "We haven't been there in such a while." She lifted her head and turned to look at me, her blonde hair falling onto my covers. "And your covers stink."

"Is a certain someone going to be there?" I teased, causing her to punch me in the arm. I ignored the comment about my covers, knowing that I was going to have to change them out soon.

"Noooo," she replied. "He is working on something that Blake is making him do. He didn't even tell me what it was." There was a pout in her voice, causing me to roll my eyes.

"Don't get too attached," I warned. "Blake and I haven't mated yet."

"Ya, ya. I know," she said. She sat up and looked at me, her blue eyes filled with mischievousness. "So, can we go? We can bring Faith along, if you feel threatened." She snorted when I nudged her arm. "What? You are tense."

I sighed and rubbed a hand through my hair. "Sure, let's go to The Bar," I said. "I need something to kick off the edge."

Kate laughed and jumped up and down on my bed. "Good," she said. "We can have Jo Anna to watch the house as well as the kids."

I scrunched up my nose and shook my head. "No," I said, firmly. "She will not be in charge." A small growl came out of my voice, because I was still annoyed with that sixteen year old. "We'll have Rosa be in charge. That way she will be able to send Krissy if there are any problems."

Kate nodded. "All right." She smirked. "Now, let's get you beautified."

I couldn't help but groan, hating the fact that she was going to get me ready. I seriously needed a drink.

30 outfits and 50 minutes of complaining, Kate, Faith, and I were finally on our way to The Bar. I was dressed in black leggings and a white blouse. I had on some nice black Uggs, that I really hated wearing, because of the way it looked and felt. Hey, it ain't my fault that I would rather wear combat boots.

"So, what's the plan? Are we hooking up on any boys?" Faith asked. "Or are we just going to enjoy the music and let loose?"

"Second one," Kate sung, causing me to roll my eyes. "Jazzy will not be hooking up with any man."

"Nor will you," I shot back, causing her to glare at me. I smirked at her, knowing that she would be blushing at the end. "Miss, I-don't-want-Faith-to-train-me." I wiggled my eyebrows, causing her to blush and clear her throat.

"That's why I smelt a male scent in the house," Faith mused, causing me to snicker. "You were with one of the men."

"Hey, it's not my faul- Hey, Bucko watch where you are going," Kate snapped while two burly men pushed through our three forms. She glared at them, and I could feel her anger started to ignite.

A sense of danger filled my system while I looked at the two men that had stopped when Kate said something.

The first male, was slightly shorter than the other but was still quite tall. He stood at 6'5 and had this slender built that made me think he was more of a shooter than anything else. He had blonde hair that looked slightly scraggly looking, but he looked handsome. The guy had blue eyes that looked as if they were the ocean.

There was something in those eyes, something in them that was begging me not to do what I was planning on doing. He seemed to glance at his partner, as if trying to warn me that the other one was trying to harm me in some way.

"Jaz?" Faith asked, causing me to look at her and break eye contact from both of them. There was a frown on her face, and I knew that she was trying to control herself from launching herself at them.

"Nothing, let's go," I said, shaking my head. I grabbed hold of Kate, who was still spewing out cuss words at them and pulled her away. "Shut up," I growled, causing her to instantly to shush.

Kate frowned but didn't say a word. She glanced back and then tapped on my arm, indicating that we were being followed.

"I need you two to take the next left and go back to the pack house," I said, my voice leveled and low. "I need you to call my father and tell him what had happened."

"He'll-"

"He'll make sure that I don't leave," I interrupted. "I'll make sure that you two can have fun."

"But what if-"

"I'll be fine. I am an Alpha after all." I gave Kate a smirk, causing her to relax, even if it was just a little bit. "I need you to both to be protected. I think that they will want me alive." I looked at Faith. "Make sure she gets back safely."

Faith nodded. "Good luck," she said before pulling Kate away from me.

I watched them, making sure that they were going the right way before running in the opposite direction. I heard shouts behind me, and I couldn't help but smirk when adrenaline started pouring through my veins.

Oh, the race was so on.
