Luke's p.o.v

She's been sleeping for 2 hours, and yet I lie here, wide awake, beside her. I watched her as she shuffled around every now and then to get comfortable, or when she talks in her sleep. I can never hear what she is saying, but I still found it cute.

She was definitely different from her mother. She was nothing like her, in fact she was better. Jane never spoke in her sleep, like I wanted to watch her sleep anyway. And she never moved, I couldn't tell if she was asleep or not. Caitlin's different though.

She's kinda hot, even though she takes all of my money. She's like a safety pin, trying to fix things back together. Especially in this broken home, making no one end up having a jet black heart. She makes everything a permanent vacation as if she wants to waste the night or catch fire, not that you can actually catch fire but hey everybody what can you do. She makes me want to fly away in dumbass airplanes all the way to San Francisco or something, she makes me feel wanted and not invisible. She's like the girl who cried wolf, full of vapor but in reality, she's just a castaway. She makes me want to carry on and reach my destiny to go outer space.

And I love her.

But I can't tell her, what if she doesn't love me back? What if I'm just someone to distract her because Calum isn't here?

I let out a sigh as I watched her eyes start to flutter, as if she was looking around in her dreams. I wondered what she was dreaming about, it could be anything really. She could be one of those dreamers who dreamed about they're favourite bands or tv shows. Or she could be one of those people that didn't dream at all.

That's when it hit me, I hardly know her. I do know a few things about her, like what most "father figures" should know, but I'm not her stepfather anymore, even if I was I still need to know more stuff about her.

She let out a hum as her eyes opened slightly, she looked up at me and smiled. "Morning."

"Morning." She replied, her voice raspy because of just waking up. "We're you watching me sleep."

"Yes, yes I was." I answered truthfully as I removed myself from her slightly, letting her stretch.

Her laugh like music, echoed around the room. Her laugh was so contagious that I couldn't help but laugh with her, she smiled at me, she looked so beautiful even if she did just wake up.

She got up and made her way over to my dresser and pulled out a top, she pulled it over her head and I smiled to myself. She picked out her favourite shirt that I always wore.

"I've been thinking." I stated as I watched her walk over to the bed and sit down. She hummed in reply for me to carry on. "Maybe we should...er... You know get some coffee later?"

She smiled at my nervousness, but I didn't like the look of it. It was a smile that says she appreciates me asking but she doesn't want to go. She let out a sigh as she moved further up the bed to sit next to me.

"I'm so sorry, you know that I'd love too, it's just..." She dragged on and I already knew what she was going to say. "I'm meeting up with Ashton today."

Jealousy swarmed throughout my body and I couldn't help but tense up, gritting my teeth together. She reached out and placed her hand on my knee, making me look over at her.

"We're just friends, it's just stuff has been happening lately and I want to make sure he's okay." She smiled reassuringly, I sent her one back as she got up and moved over to the door. She turned around to face me, a hand on her hip. "So, are we going to eat breakfast or not?"

I couldn't help the smile that spread across my face, as I hopped up and ran out the door. What? I was hungry.

Caitlin's p.o.v

After Luke had asked me to go out for coffee, I felt guilt travel throughout me. I had already made plans with Calum, but I had to lie and say it was Ashton.

If Luke found out I was going out with Calum later and not Ashton, he would kill me. He likes Calum, he's not that type of person who hates someone, but with what happened with me and Calum a couple of days ago, it was for sure that he wouldn't let me go.

So yes, I lied. But it was for a good cause, and I regret doing it because one day karma is going to come back and I'm definitely done for when that happens.

I was now looking through the cupboards, trying to find something that we could eat for breakfast but we hadn't been shopping for a while. I let out a sigh as I turned round to Luke, he raised his eyebrows at me, obviously knowing what I was going to say.

"We need to go shopping."

He nodded his head as he walked back up the stairs, I waited patiently until I heard his feet patter against the wooden floor in the next room, and into this one. He had gotten changed into black jeans and a plain white top, he grabbed hold of his vans that were placed in the corner of the room and put them on his feet, tying the shoelace.

As he was about to do the second one, he looked up at me and smiled before saying, "there should be some cereal in the cupboard, have that whilst I go shopping."

I nodded my head and started walking over to the cupboard, stopping when he spoke again. "I presume you'd be with Ashton when I get back, so make sure your back by 9."

I turned around to say okay, but when I faced him he was already out of the back door and jogging to his car. Letting out another sigh, I opened the cupboard and pulled out a box of Cheerios and a bowl.
