That awkward smile,
That defeaning silence that went on for a while.
Those uneasy glances,
And controlled replies,
These are the things I remember,
When we first laid eyes.
But it all changed in one night,
When our conversation easily took flight.
You just told me about a book,
And your favorite reading nook.
But right there and then, I felt home.
And felt less alone.
A few nights went by,
I often go to bed with a sigh.
Because our talks became endless,
Until the early morning bliss.
I found someone dear,
Someone I'm sure would always be near.
No physical distance would ever tear us apart.
Because our souls are kindred,
And intertwined.
Like an interwoven lines in an abstract art.
Fate is trully wondrous.
For it sent me a soul
Who understood my own flaws.
And sent me a hero,
Who understood that sometimes I'm a foe.
I have yet a lifetime ahead of me.
And maybe in this life, I could lead astray.
But whatever this life may give me,
I know, at my side she would stay.
