7. Now What?

I had some trouble sleeping last night. I finally feel asleep around 5:00 a.m. But it wasn't easy. It went as far as I started running outside to make me tired.

But I'm still sick to my stomach about this whole Nate situation. It almost seemed unreal. But it wasn't.

I decided it would be best to call LeAnn.

"Hello?" She answered on the first ring.

 I instantly hung up. I admit it. I didn't have the guts to tell her. I tried again.

"Hello?" She answered again.

I hung up.... Again.

Yeah, I just didn't have the guts to tell her. I felt it was best if I explain it to her later. Maybe at school? I don't really know. Just then my phone rang. It said private number. I answered it.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Don't you say anything." The voice replied. He had a very deep voice.

"Nate. I know it's you. Your not fooling anyone."

"Hm... Whatever! Seriously. Please don't tell LeAnn."

"Or what?"

"Or I'll kill you." I paused. What? He wouldn't kill me. What a lie. I hung up. He probably thought I was a wuss. I really didn't care.

Honestly, if he was going to kill me, wouldn't he have done it by now? I've been mean to him in the past for pushing him out of me and LeAnn's 'private' conversations. The only time I've actually helped him was when I got him and LeAnn back together. What do I get after all that hard work? Betrayal. That's what.

So yes, I was going to tell LeAnn about Nate cheating on her. She'll hate him for it but she'll also understand. It's a typical guy move. All guys do it and there was no stopping it. No girl knows why but I guess we somehow figured out there was no reason.

And for real, what's the worst he could do. He would go to jail no doubt. Besides, I could totally survive it.

Wow. I really do think to much. I need a vacation.

I ran downstairs to my dad's office and got on facebook. The first thing that popped up on the news feed was LeAnn's relationship status. It went from 'in a relationship' to 'single' and it looked like she had just posted it.

What? Did LeAnn break up with him? Or did he break up with her? What was going on here? Why am I asking myself so many questions?

Normally I would wait until school started to ask her what was wrong, but this was an emergency.

I called her. "Hello?"

"Lee! What happened between you and Nate?"

"I broke up with him. He cheated on me! Can you believe that?"

"Who told you that?" I tried to make it seem like I had no idea what was going on.

"I don't know. I got a random call from someone and they never told me who they were. They said he cheated on me so I called Nate and he said it was true. So I broke up with him." She explained. Why would Nate admit he cheated on her. That's weird.

"I'm really sorry."

"It's okay." I hung up. Who would have told her that. It wasn't me. Maybe it was they girl he was with. But why? I really don't know.

I woke up the next morning feeling good, yet not so good. Everything was falling apart. Except for Bruno. He was the only light in my drama filled life.

I took a shower and got ready for school. I needed to see LeAnn and talk to her. I haven't seen her all weekend which was a mistake.

I arrived at school and Immediately looked for LeAnn. I saw her talking to Sabrina. I ran over to her. Before I was able to reach her, someone had tripped me.

I feel to the floor. It almost reminded me of what happened between me and Bruno at the mall. I looked up and I saw Nate walking away. Twenty bucks says he tripped me. I got up and tried to keep my cool.

"LeAnn," I pulled her away from Sabrina. This was an emergency. "Who exactly told you about Nate cheating on you?" I asked her. She gave it some thought.

"Well I'm not sure who he was but I could totally tell it was a boy."

"A boy huh?" She walked away. So basically, Bruno told her. That jerk! First, he starts a fight with Nate then he makes him more mad by telling LeAnn he cheated on her. This just isn't my week.

School flew by like usual. Tomorrow was the last day of school, and I wasn't going to let anything ruin that. Tomorrow needed to be perfect. I mean, after tomorrow, I'll practically be a senior. It feels like it was yesterday when I started first grade. Ah, memories.

I drove home wondering why Bruno would say such a thing. I ran inside my house and threw my school stuff in the storage room. I wouldn't need it tomorrow since we were graduating. I couldn't wait.

I grabbed some strawberries out of the fridge. I began eating them. I was so hungry. I skipped lunch today because I was scoping the school for clues. I just realized that you really couldn't find any clues in school. No usual clues at that.

I put the strawberries back in the fridge when I was full. It was already getting dark outside, so I figured I'd sit out on the porch.

I sat down with my knees against my chin. Suddenly, I heard some thumping on the side of my house. My phone rang right after it stopped. The caller i.d. said no name. I answered it anyway.

"Hello?" All I could hear was breathing on the other side."I can hear you breathing. Who is this?"

"I told you not to tell." They instantly hung up after that. I looked at my phone then put in back in my pocket. I heard the thumping noises again. I stood up and walked over to the side on the house.

"Okay, I don't know who you are, but you better stop-" The person turned around and put duck tape on my mouth.  He stepped into the light.

It was Nate.

"I told you not to tell LeAnn. Now your dead." He whispered. I never told LeAnn! What was he talking about? I tried to tell him he was wrong but the duck tape was too strong. He carried me and threw me in the back of his car. He took the duck tape off my mouth.

"Are you insane?" I screamed. He looked at my through the mirror and said nothing. 

"I never told LeAnn. She told me! She said someone called her and told her but she doesn't know who."  He still had a blank expression on his face.

So this is how my life was going to end? It was weird because I wasn't all that scared. But I didn't know what to expect.

This is just unreal.
