Once In A Lifetime

Chapter Eleven{Part 2}

                                                      ~Mason's Point Of View~
I'm startled awake by a loud knock on my door and the annoying voice of my father's step wife,
"Sweetie are you up yet? Your daddy is ready to get a move on!"
I roll my eyes at her fake sweetness and holler out,
"I'll be up in a minute."
I throw a plaid button up on and head upstairs, when I get there the old man takes one look at my skinny jeans and brown boots then says,
"You couldn't of dressed nicer?"
I roll my eyes,
"Are we going to church?"
My father crosses his arms and says,
"No."
I walk past him towards his range rover and say,
"Then deal with it."
On the way to the stupid concealed location my father briefs me on the exchange,
"Also my guys are bringing a new guy with them and they said he's around your age. Maybe you'll make a friend so you'll stop hanging out with those waiters and waitresses."
I keep my mouth closed and run my hand through my hair.
When we get to the warehouse my father's lackeys get out of their car, I was not paying too close attention until I saw someone I really did not want to see here. While my father talks to his men I walk over I pushed the person into the side of the car,
"Luke Payne. What the hell are you doing here?" I glower at him.
Luke's eyes are bugged out and he says,
"Me? What about you?"
I tell him as fast as I can that my father was in charge and I didn't have a choice but to be here.
"You can't tell El! I need the money and I don't want to upset her." Luke pleads.
I shove him again and say,
"Luke! You idiot! You screw up bad enough and those guys could hurt Elena!" I whisper yell at him.
Luke asks, "Then what about Sam?"
I look at him with weary eyes and say,
"Why do you think I haven't told my father about her."
Luke looks at me petrified and I tell him,
"You do as they say and I'll get you out as soon as I can."
Luke shakes his head and says,
"What about you?"
Mason holds out his hand and says,
"We'll work together."
My father comes over and explains to Luke the process of how he steals cars and weapons and illegally sells them. Luke remains impressively passive, when my father walks over to the side to make a call Luke grabs my arm and asks,
"So what do we do."
I keep my eyes on the man that ruined my life and say,
'We lay low and do what he says until we can get out."

After the day we had we went to the girl's loft to watch a movie and eat pizza. As we sat there watching Harry Potter I had my arm tight around Sam and I thought about how much my dad had taken from me over the years but I'm not letting him take away these wonderful friends I've made or this amazing girl in my arms. I look over at Luke who is cuddled up with El who is asleep on his chest, he gives me nod and kisses Elena's head. I tense up thinking about how in the heck I can beat my father and Sam notices. Sam looks up at me with her big hazel eyes and whispers,
"You alright Mas?"
I nod and give her a light kiss on the head and say,
"Yeah, everything is fine."
