~3rd person's P.O.V.~

Rachel sat in her room, reading a copy of the collected works of Benjamin Lee Whorf, smiling to herself as she contently read each page. Giving an exasperated sigh she watched the smoke seep under her door, followed by a chorus of yells- the main culprit being the blonde bomber she had come to know. She had been here two weeks and honestly, not every day started like this one- however, I do suppose it would be an exception. Kakuzu and Hidan had just returned from Sunagakure, something about 'the termination of a fucking spy' in Hidan's words. Kisame and Itachi had just returned from Konoha, something about a research based mission. Zetsu had been roaming around the base, phasing through floors- as he does. She had managed to get a conversation out of him the day before yesterday, although that ended with the inevitable question that always came up in conversations- 'can you see me?' how she loathed that question. Too many assumed she was blind, babying her about everything. But alas, unless they knew, that question would continue to rear its ugly head. The conversation with the half plant, half human had been reasonably alright, it was only a ten minute conversation but it was the most she had talked to anyone since her arrival. When everyone returned from missions they tended to be grouchy, so keeping out of everyone's way was first and foremost her only option. Not that she minded of course, she had yet to be partnered with a group and solitude was something she enjoyed because not only could she be herself but she wasn't judged because of it. As she continued to read a soft knock came from the door, knocking her from her mental debate about a point the author had made. "Come in." she turned her eyes from the page and up to the now open door to reveal Sasori. "Leader-Sama wants you to come to a meeting- he'll be assigning you to a group." Nodding she sat up, bookmarking her page as she set her book down and stood. Sasori left, the door open as she followed silently behind him up the hall to the dining room table. She sat down next to Kisame as Leader-Sama started talking about missions, the reports that had been filed and their next set of missions.

~Rachel's P.O.V.~

I was zoning out, what Leader-Sama was saying only referred to the others at the moment. I was pulled out of my thoughts as I heard my name mentioned. "...and that's where Rachel fits in. Rachel will be paired with Tobi, our newest partners to the organisation." At this I watched Tobi jump in excitement, running over he leant down in front of me- near touching my face- as he wiggled slightly. "Rachel-san and Tobi will be good members!" At this I heard Hidan start laughing. "How unfortunate, the blind bitch and the mentally incapacitated man child. I almost pity you.""I guess it's a good thing I do pity you then, hm Hidan?" I looked over with a stony expression, causing Kisame to smirk and look at Hidan. "She isn't blind, and you should know what she's capable of- I believe the last time you went up against her she had you returned in a burlap sack." The male finished with a laugh as the Jashinist glared at him. "Shut it you blue bastard!" he growled and stood up as he slammed his hands down onto the table. He went to open his mouth again only to have Leader-Sama shoot him a look, and if looks could kill he would be six feet under. "Hidan, keep your vulgar language to yourself, sit down and keep silent." Mumbling angrily he sat down, glaring at the two from across the table. She gave Kisame a nod as thanks, to which he responded with a toothy grin. I listened as Leader-Sama continue to talk, instructing Tobi and I as to how we would be going about our first mission. Tobi was wiggling eagerly in his chair next to me, 'well at least he's going to make things interesting.' Leader- Sama dismissed us shortly after, I got up to get a glass of water. Leaning against the kitchen bench. 'Leader-Sama said we leave tomorrow, I just need to pack a few things and I should be alright to go.' I thought to myself. Making a mental list I headed back to my room to start. Just after I had shut my door Deidara held a hand out to stop it. "Hey, yeah." I looked over, turning around, "What is it?""Are you settling in alright? Ignore Hidan- he is a real asshole, yeah." I shrugged, walking over to my small shoulder bag, i packed a few things in it like some money, the book I was currently reading and a few kunai just in case we ran into any trouble. Deidara frowned softly, walking over to sit on my bed. "What do you want Deidara, I have to prepare for tomorrow.""I just wanted to get to know you a little better, yeah. We all know of your reputation but until you talk to some of us that's all you'll be here, yeah. A reputation." Turning around I gave an inaudible sigh and walked over to the door, holding it open for him. "I will talk when I am ready, no sooner and most certainly not later. If you'd kindly- I have things to do." The blonde bomber rolled his eyes and stood before stopping between myself and the door, about to speak I cut him off. "Don't even bother. Go." He did as asked and closing the door behind him I sighed in relief. Getting changed I decided to go for a shower, needing to wash my hair.

~~Time skip~~

I woke up the next morning to a squealing Tobi running into my room. Sitting bolt upright in my bed I gave Tobi- and now Deidara- a passive glance before yawning and stretching. "Rachel-San, Deidara Senpai is trying to kill tobi!" Deidara growled, clay at the ready as Tobi stood next to me, shaking slightly. "That's because that bastard put my clay in the oven, yeah!" I sighed and closed my eyes, brushing a hand through my hair to push the mess out of my face. "Tobi, Apologise." "But Tobi is a-" I looked over at him. "Do it yourself, or I'll make you." He hung his head in defeat and walked cautiously over to him, like a wounded animal. Deidara had his arms crossed across his chest, still looking angrier than ever as Tobi tilted his mask upwards, to face him- I assume. "Tobi is sorry, Deidara Senpai. Tobi won't touch the clay again." Grunting in slight approval he turned and left the room, Tobi turning back to me as I dropped back onto my bed with a bland expression. 'Three hours before I had to wake up. Not a good start to my day.' I grumbled internally as I stared at the ceiling. Tobi's mask appeared inches away from my face, accompanied by a waving black glove. "Rachel-San, Tobi-""Get out. I still have time to sleep. And if you don't leave I will make you." Taking the hint he jumped up, bolting out of the room. Leaving my door open I shrugged it off, going back to sleep.

I woke up a few hours later, yawning I stepped foot out of my bed and made my way to the shower. Shutting and locking the door I stripped before turning on the water, letting it stay cold. I dealt far better with cold than I did with things of a hot nature. Fire and heat just weren't my things. Putting my hair up and into a bun I stepped in and cleaned myself before getting out. Wrapping a towel around myself I made sure to dry off before setting foot in my room. Shutting and locking my bedroom door I got dressed: the usual grey ninja shirt with black ninja pants, ninja shoes and my akatsuki cloak. 'These clothes are beyond morbid.' I sighed and grabbed my bag before heading out into the living area- cave if you will- to meet Tobi.

~Tobi's P.O.V.~

'I am beyond my limits of patience with Deidara, next time the clay will be under his head and not in the oven.' I thought to myself, bouncing in place to keep up my 'Tobi' guise. I was starting to get a little impatient when she walked out from the dark corridor. I had to admit, the girl had quite the ability- a natural born necromancer. Quite the ability indeed and how handy it will be from my plan. But for now I need to know exactly what she can do. "Tobi, are you ready?" I nodded eagerly, sprinting to the door enthusiastically. "This is Tobi's first time on a proper mission, with an actual partner!" I cried out in excitement. 'God this is ridiculous. The sooner the plan moves along the better.' As we set our way out into the forest I looked around in feigned excitement. I kept watch of her out of the corner of my eyehole. Limited vision through this blasted thing but I could still sense her chakra- how could I not with the abilities she possesses. "Tobi. Where is the map and the instructions?" she looked over. Pulling them out of one of my pouches I waved them in the air. "I have them Rachel-San, Leader Sama gave them to me!" she pulled out her book and started reading as we walked. 'Unbelievable, she honestly couldn't care less...' "Good, tell us which way to go- or if we are headed in the right direction." She mumbled as she continued to read, turning a page of her book. Sensing a few different levels of chakra in the distance I looked up from the map. I assumed she sensed this too because she was looking in the same direction I was. I watched her hand twitch, a small amount of what appeared to be black haze seeped out of her sleeve. 'Oh... this will be good.' I smirked behind my mask. 'Now let's see what she's made of.'
