Hazel's POV

"We did it we did it we did it!"'

Harley cried out with joy the moment we left the court.

I smiled happily. Satisfaction and joy were all that I felt now.

And that's how I knew. I knew that my revenge wasn't empty and it wasn't shallow. It paid off.

All those weeks of planning and scheming and bribing and crying, they all paid off.

What's the moral? Revenge isn't always bad.

I don't think my dad would approve of that moral but oh well.

"So what happens now?" Celeste asked.

"What happens now is we go back and look for Sophia because apparently she got sidetracked. Come on fashionista."

Harley said as she linked her arm through Celeste's.

Celeste gave me a look that said be right back, apparently I am being dragged away.

I laughed and started walking towards the direction of the car.

I stopped abruptly on my tracks when I realized someone was leaning casually against my car.

And that someone was looking at me. Like right at me.

No need for the subtle look over your shoulder. It was clear as day, he was looking at me.

"Hi." He said softly as soon as I got close enough.

"Hi." I echoed his greeting.

"Sorry I wasn't at the trial."

"Sorry I didn't notice you weren't at the trial."

He smiled sheepishly.

"Your dad was there." I told him.

" I know." He replied.

I waited for him to continue talking. After all, he was the one who was leaning against my car like it was nobody's business.

Finally he exhaled loudly.

"I wanted to say I'm sorry. For everything. And I wanted to finally give this back to you."

He held something out to me. Something very familiar.

"My phone!"

The phone. My phone. The phone I had lost that day at the airport.

"Wait a minute you took it!?"

He lowered his head in shame.

"Like I said. I was a part of Alana's plan for a while. But then I actually started to like you. And then I kind of , maybe, started falling for you."

He said timidly.

I wasn't sure whether to get mad at him for stealing my phone, or maybe I should go awww since his speech was actually kinda cute.

"Uhhh"

Great. That was a fantastic reply.

"It's okay Hazel. I know you don't like me like that."

Well now this is awkward. Where is Harley when you need her?

"Well I ... Uhm..."

I laughed awkwardly.

"So what are you planning to do now?"

Yes I am an idiot. I am 100% aware of that fact.

"I'm going to watch over Alana for a few months. Dad's sending her to a mental hospital, it's better than jail. Listen, I'd uh, appreciate it of you kept quiet about her killing like a lot of people. Maybe. If it's okay with you."

Well that wasn't really fair.

"I guess I can try to keep my big mouth from opening."

I said with half a smile.

"Thanks."

He shuffled his feet around a bit as if he were thinking of something else to say.

"So, we're good?"

I smiled softly.

"Yeah. We're good."

He took a hold of my hand.

"It was a pleasure meeting you, Hazel Armada."

I smiled at him, a real smile.

"The pleasure was all mine. Malcolm Wright."

He grinned and gave me a hug. It was sort of like a goodbye.

I hugged him back and closed my eyes.

Nothing would ever be the same again...

"HEY BUDDY! HANDS OFF! THAT IS DANIEL WALKER'S FUTURE GIRLFRIEND. AND ARE YOU DANIEL WALKER? NO. DIDN'T THINK SO. GO AWAY."

Well except maybe that.

My friends would always be crazy.

But Harley would always be the craziest.

Malcolm let go of me and said goodbye.

He didn't even wait for my reply as he walked away.

Just as Harley got to my side, giving me a wtf look, Malcolm got inside his car and drove off.

And as his car got smaller and smaller in the distance, a tear trickled down my cheek.

And I whispered "goodbye Malcolm."
