Nick was walking outside of school when he saw a mob of people talking to Demi. He started to make his way towards the parking lot when he heard someone call his name.

''Nick!'' Demi yelled trying to get his attention while she was pushing past people and making her way towards him.

He turned around and smiled once he saw who it was. ''Hey Demi.''

''Hey.'' She smiled. ''I was wondering if you could give me a ride home?''

''A ride home?'' He asked with a smiled. ''You had all those people around you and none of them could of given you a ride home?''

''They could of....'' She admitted. ''But I didn't ask them.''

''And why not?'' He questioned.

She smiled before answering. ''Because I wanted you to do it.''

He grinned. ''Yea, come on lets go.'' They walked through the parking lot and made it to Nick's car.

Demi gasp. ''No way! You have a 1966 mustang!''

''Yea.'' He said. ''But I'm saving up to fix it.''

''What does it need done?'' She asked.

''Everything.'' He laughed alittle. ''But I'm determined to get the job done.''

''Good for you.'' She smiled while getting into the car. She has never met a boy that was so indepent. All the boys she knew depented on money.

It was pretty quite on the way to Demi's house. ''So?'' Nick asked. ''How was your first day of school?''

''It was pretty good.'' She said.''Everyone was nice and friendly.''

''Yea, I wonder why.'' He said in a sacrtist tone.

Demi let out a small sigh and looked out the window. ''You know it sucks sometimes.''

''What?'' Nick asked. ''Being rich and famous.''

''No.'' She said. ''People being nice to you because you're rich and famous. You don't know who your real friends are.''

Nick pulled up in front of Demi's house. ''Well, just to let you know I don't just like you cause your rich and famous.''

She let out a small smile. ''Thanks Nick. You're a good friend.''

He smiled back. ''Anytime.''

Demi was just about to get out of the car when she stopped herself. ''Do you want to come in?'' She asked. ''We could watch a movie.''

He smiled, but then frowned. ''I wish I could...but I can't. I have to get home - sorry.''

''No it's okay. I just thought I'll ask.'' She said.

''Well, thank you for asking.''

''No problem.'' She said before leaving and walking into her house.

Nick sighed while watching Demi walk into her house. He really badly wanted to hang out with her, but he couldn't he had to get home to his dad.

-

''Dad!'' Nick yelled. ''I'm home.''

''In the living room!'' His dad yelled back.

He walked into the living room and saw his dad reading the newspaper. ''Hey.''

''Hey.'' He said back. ''How was school?'' He asked

''Ehhh.'' He said. ''It was alright.''

''Ohh no.'' He smiled. ''Who is she?''

He started to play with his thumbs. ''Who is who?''

''Ohh no, don't play dumb with me. I might be old, but I'm not stupid. Now who is this girl you're crushing on?''

He sighed giving in. ''Her name is Demi Lovato.''

''Demi Lovato?'' He said to himself trying to figure out why that name sounded so familar. ''Ohh! It's that famous girl! She's been all over the news this morning. Is it true she goes to your school?''

''Yes it's true, but anyways I kind of like her and she asked me to hang out with her...''

''Well, boy what happened?!'' He asked getting impatient.

''I said no.''

''Are you stupid?'' He asked. ''What you go and do that for?''

''Because I had to come home and take care of you.''

''Nicholas, how many times have I told you to stop worrying about me you are too young to. You have been acting this way since I had a heartattack when you were a freshman and it's ruining your high school years. You're a senior now - enjoy it.''

Nick didn't want to fight anymore with his dad on this subject - there was no point. ''Okay dad.'' With that he left the room and went into the kitchen.

He then heard the mail man putting the mail into the slot. Nick grabbed it. Bills, bills, then something caught his eye - it was a letter. From the college of arts here in California, Nick opened it quickly and saw that he had been accepted.

''Anything important in today's mail?'' His father asked from the living room.

Nick quickly folded the papers up and put it in his back pocket. ''Nope.'' He said. ''Nothing today.''
