Chapter 10

I would be far, far away then.

Sean walked towards me, the others following him closely. I didn't even try to get away, knowing that it was of no use and would only worsen the situation.

"Alpha." I softly mumbled and looked at the ground immediately.

"Oh poor Pucky." Simon said from behind Sean.

I didn't understand his humor but he himself seemed to find it hilarious. The loser. I let out a deep sigh when Sean's big arms grabbed me.

Here we go again.

Nova Rijn

Furious, I walked towards the group of guys. Very cool, four against one.

I decided to voice my opinion and share it with the guys.

"Very tough, you know. Four against one. What, afraid that you couldn't take him one on one?"

Okay, maybe I shouldn't have said that last part. But I was right, wasn't I?

I heard Mark snort, but all I did was roll my eyes. I walked towards Sean. For some reason I felt calm. As if they couldn't hurt me. Weird, but nice.

"Fuck off, you bitch!" Simon growled.

Oh, Simon. My dear, dear friend.

"You fuck off, asshole!" I mumbled back. I didn't speak loudly, but I knew he had heard me. What happened next went by so quickly that I had a hard time keeping up. It happened too quickly for me to understand everything.

I didn't know what happened exactly, but I was a little like this: Sean hit Puck in the face a few times after Puck had said something to him. Puck had spoken so softly that I was surprised Sean had heard it. After punching him, Sean let Puck fall to the ground and then immediately picked him up by his hair again. He started dragging Puck away, outside.

Puck didn't do anything. All he did was hold in his tears, trying not to cry.

The rest of the group followed Sean outside and I was about to do the same, but Simon had other plans.

He pushed me against the wall and placed his arms on either sides of me, caging me in. he bent forward and brought his lips to my linker ear.

"Baby, you're going to pa-"

Puck van den Bosch

I squeezed my eyes shut, to make sure that no tears would escape my eyes. People stared after us, but did nothing, as usual. Sean had let go of my hair and was now literally kicking me forward. "Walk!" he roared. I tried to get up to walk but my legs wouldn't work.

I already regretted what I had said.

'Yeah, that bit you in the ass, didn't it?'

I knew Blaine was right, but I had to say something. Knowing Sean and the others, they would've treated Nova like any other wolf.

She wouldn't have survived.

Thinking about Nova made me look around worriedly and I saw what I had been afraid of: Simon had her.

"Sea- Alpha" I started, but I was cut off by a kick from Sean.

It blew all the air out of my lungs and I stayed there on the ground for a few seconds, unmoving. I closed my eyes and hoped that when I'd open them, I'd be in my bed. That I'd walk downstairs to cook some dinner, and find my dad unconscious on the couch with the scent of alcohol around him.

But no, when I opened my eyes, I stared into Nova's.

Huh? What had I missed?

Nova smiled at me and reached her hand out. I grabbed it and she pulled me up.

"Are you okay?" she looked at me with concern, but her eyes were filled with pain.

"I'm fine." I answered and shrugged.

She raised an eyebrow but didn't ask more. I appreciated that.

"What? How-?" I started but Nova held up her hand and gestured for me to shut up.

"Let's just go Puck, okay?"

"Wow, Puck..." Nova mumbled. She had her head leaned against my shoulder while she looked around in wonder. My hands were placed behind me and I leaned on them. It felt so safe and familiar with Nova.

All we heard were the noises of the forest, our breathing and the sound of water falling from the waterfall. I let out a sigh of relief and frustration. Why couldn't it always be like this? Why couldn't it always be peaceful and quiet?

"Puck?"

I shook the thoughts away and looked at Nova.

"Yeah?"

"I'm so glad to have you as my friend."

I stared at her but she kept looking at the water, undisturbed.

"Puck?"

"Yeah?"

"Thank you."

I looked at Nova with surprise. "What for?"

"For showing me this beautiful place."

"Of course, Nova. Of course."
